Dear Taylors Hill Primary School Community, Learning At THPS Makes For A Very Busy Place! Over the past month, we have had a whole range of activities and special events at Taylors Hill Primary School. Literacy and Numeracy learning in classrooms keeps us very busy, along with excursions, swimming, special events and fundraising. I would like to congratulate all of the students for the way they have conducted themselves throughout all of these activities. It has also been fabulous to see the way they have encouraged each other and had fun with their learning. Well done Taylors Hill Primary School - you are truly amazing! Our Values – INTEGRITY Underpins Them All Our school Values support our students, staff and community to work and learn effectively together. With just three weeks of the school year left, our values are as important as ever to ensure that our school is a safe, happy and focussed place to learn right up until the last day. It’s important for us to keep our focus on the value of Integrity and we refer to this in a simple way with our students: Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching!
This is such an important value and life skill for our students to be able to be intrinsically motivated to make good choices and take action within our community guidelines. This includes small things, like tying their hair back, walking in the slow zones or putting rubbish in the bin, through to larger things to do with how they speak and treat other people. As adults, we also need to be modelling the value of Integrity and keeping this concept part of your family conversations. Our actions often speak louder than words, so things like parking in the correct places, using the right exit doors, speaking to people with respect, being on time for appointments, or helping a stranger can all be used as life lessons for integrity. PFA Carols Night Raffle – Who Wants To Win A Holiday To Queensland? Thank you so much to all families for selling and buying our Carols Night Raffle Tickets. The major prize is very exciting and we want everyone to be in with a chance to win! We are in the last few days of selling, with only one weekend until all ticket stubs, money and unsold tickets need to be returned on Monday, 2nd December. Legally, we need to have ALL TICKETS RETURNED, sold or not. So please make a big effort to return your raffle books and money by the due date. The raffle will be drawn at Carols Night next Thursday, 5th December and I’m very excited to announce the winning entries! Danielle Stella - Principal
ATTENDANCE Thank you to all the THPS community for making an effort to be at school on time, every day.
It would be wonderful over the next 3 weeks to see our attendance data improve and show the high numbers we achieved in week 5 of this term.
We have 17 school days remaining in 2019….
How many days will you be at school and on time?
Thanks For A Great Year Of School Banking We would like to thank all students who have participated in the CommBank School Banking Program this year. The final School Banking day for 2019 will be Tuesday 10th December. If your
child is eligible to order a reward item please ensure that the reward coupon is
completed and returned BY TUESDAY 3rd DECEMBER. Any tokens that have
not been redeemed this year can be used in 2020.
LEARNING CENTRE NEWS!
As Term 4 in the Learning Centre comes to a close students have borrowed for the last time. Next week all books are due to be returned and we will be issuing “Overdue Notices”, so please check your child’s satchel. Books are never lost – they are generally at home or in the car. If the book cannot be found or is damaged we do appreciate a donation of $15.00 to go towards replacement.
Overall borrowing this year has been very good with most students taking home a book to read each week. Reading does not stop, EBooks can be loaned through Orbit by the older students and World Book is available to all.
During the year we have processed a total of 28 107 loans 10 038 were fiction
6565 non-fiction
8625 picture story
AMAZING!
We have added 1000 books to our collection bringing our total resources to: 23 682
Thank you to our wonderful book covering volunteers who have covered many books throughout the year. We would not be able to get the new books on the shelf so quickly without you.
If any graduating Grade 6s have Blue Satchels that are no longer needed please consider donating them to the Learning Centre.
All the best to everyone for the upcoming Festive Season and summer break, (there are still 3 weeks of term to go). Mrs Baron and I will be spending the next few weeks counting books and preparing the Learning Centre and we look forward to seeing everyone back and borrowing in 2020.
