DESCRIPTION

Replace all image information with small copies of things that mean something to you, but will still give a sense of your self-portrait.

Art 43a, Beg. Digital Imaging

01, Self Portrait

Write up a 50 word minimum critique for just one other student, not a friend. Look for the weakest project and make concrete suggestions for improvement that have to do with changing size, color, rotation, selection of original object, things like that. Try not to make any judgment calls on the imagery, just gently suggest what might be done to improve how the features in the face read, or the texture of the skin appears. Give the student something to work with to improve the image.

You have one week after the critique to polish your images. This is your opportunity to take in any suggestions made by other students for improvement, before I 1) grade the projects or 2) print out the projects. This gives you the best possible chance at a good grade. If your work is receiving lots of suggestions for improvement from other students and you try those suggestions, it generally helps your grade.

Make sure when you write up your critique that you label it Smith for Jones with your last name and the last name of the student it’s written for. I have labeled all of the slides here with the student’s names. Your critiques should be added as a new post to the Discussion Forums for the class on myCR.
