What patterns can you see in the sky?

Moon• Orbit around Earth= ellipse

• Revolution= 27.3 days

• Rotates on axis= 27.3 days

The same side of the Moon is always facing Earth.

• depends on how much of sunlit side of moon faces Earth

Phases of the Moon Activity-Using Oreos

• Materials: four Oreo cookies, plastic knife, long blue construction paper

1.On a paper plate, make a chart showing New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent, using Oreos.

2.With your knives, scrap away the frosting to represent each phase.

3.Draw the phases in your notebook.
