BIRTHDAYS- If you wish to bring in
treats for your child’s birthday, please
only bring store bought items and bring
enough for the whole class. Treats will
be shared at lunch. We do have nut
allergies. *24 treats will cover a class.
Each child should have a pair of earbuds that
remain in his/her binder at all times. Student’s binders
should be going home nightly.
Woolard’s Corner Words of the Week
Spelling/Vocab : The students will be practicing adding “shun” to words. This week we will be practicing c +ian, t+ion and t+ation. We will continue studying root words this week. Our root word this week is cycle. Literature: STANDARD/S - RL.5.4/ RL.5.5/ L.5.5 In ELA this week we are continuing working on poems. We will be continuing the poem “Casey at the Bat”. Boxtops –Please turn in your box tops to support our school! 5. E. 1.1 - 1.3 Students will demonstrate their knowledge on our weather sma’s. Students can study using their notebooks or school net smamaps. Social studies: The second nine weeks focuses on how change has impacted North Carolina’s people, communities and regions. Students will investigate how indigenous American Indian groups were affected by European exploration and immigration. They will explain how people, events and developments brought about change to communities in North Carolina.
Next Week’s STANDARD: NC.5.NF.3 Use fractions to model and solve division problems.
● Interpret a fraction as an equal sharing context, where a quantity is divided into equal parts.
● Model and interpret a fraction as the division of the numerator by the denominator.
● Solve one-step word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions and mixed numbers, with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12, using area, length, and set models or equations.
