Framestore used Maya and RenderMan to add CG wings to a

“We needed them to be photo-realistic and we didn’t want to be confused by any of the stylistic treatments that we were using.”

“All of the facial expressions were driven by Jeff, and made

from his facial movements. Facial animation at the photo-real level

is incredibly difficult.”Eric Barba, VFX Supervisor

“For the first 52 minutes of the film it’s a full 3D head, there were 325 individual shots.”

Rob Harvey, VFX Supervisor

“Oliver's character dies just before the end of the film. This

was a great actor in an important movie, and we had to make it look

seamless.”

Tim Webber, VFX Supervisor

“Alfonso made it clear that the logistics of the sequence, the

'how', was entirely up to us. That was a great feeling - if scary!”
