SoulfulLondon boy Marcus’career has a lot more goingfor it than his celeb links.His debut album Name-less Path — out on Septem-ber 26 — is creating waves.He explained: “I’m in astrange position as I’m notmaking pop music but I’msigned to a major label,so I’m walking that linebetween art and compromise.“I just want to be able tomake the music I want andplay to as many people whowant to hear it.“It’s all about havingsomething to say — and I do.“I grew up in the UK buta couple of years ago I dida tour of America.“I do everything thewrong way round. I’d loveto go back as it was crazyalthough it was premature,I wasn’t quite ready.“The kind of music I playis more accessible to peopleout there as it has thatblues influence — they getit. But over here, peoplethink of it being more elit-ist and not as popular.“Back then it was just meand my guitar but I’verealised since then what Iwanted to do was moreelectric and soulful —between then and now, I’ve

found my sound.” Marcus isjoining The Pierces on tour— hitting Glasgow’s ABC onOctober 8.Then he’s back up northfor his own tour in Novem-ber — and the Twilight gangcould be there too.He said: “I’ve done a fewsmaller tours and been upto Scotland a couple oftimes. But it’s good to begoing out with The Piercesas I’ll be playing some big-ger venues.“I’m pretty excited. I’vedone a few larger placesand some festivals over the

summer — and that’s what Iwant to do, play to as manypeople as I can.
