Making Better Fertiliser Decisions for
Cropping Systems in Australia
What is the database?
• A repository of all available* and scientifically valid N, P, K and S response trials for cereal, oilseed & pulse crop species (public and commercial trials)
• Database is aimed at advisors, fertiliser companies and researchers
• Accessible online to registered users through the BFDC Interrogator tool
• Tool used to derive soil test interpretation criteria

Who is in command of soil testing?
• The soil chemist? Refine the soil tests
• The agronomist? Get better meta data
• The statistician? Minimise error in both axes
by both of the above.
Therefore in MPCN II/BFDC II……
• We will fill the NPKS response gaps in the
BFDC National Database
• We will collect appropriate meta data for those trials (soil type, soil depths, weather,
agronomic management)
• We will test a range of appropriate soil tests
• We will add LTE’s to the database
