first year of high school…
•Missing Homework on Infinite Campus!!•Not doing/asking for make up work when absent (both in academic classes and PE)
•Wanting parents to “let go”
•Change in appearance or behavior
•Falling behind in school work

• Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri 7:45-2:35 PM.
• Wednesday PLC schedule 7:45-1:30pm
• Very few freshman will take a class before 7am
• MOST freshmen will attend from 7:45 – 2:35

What do I need for an Honors Diploma?
• 24 credits• 3.4 Cumulative GPA• 4 years math • 3 years science
– Including Biol., Chem., or Physics
• 2 years same foreign language• 8 Honors Credits

How many classes do freshmen need to take?
• All freshmen must be enrolled in 7 classes
• Requirements include: 1) Math 2) English 3) Science
• Students may choose from a variety of electives

CBE for Spanish and French can be taken this summer

Honors English Information
Students will be invited to apply by the McQ English Department
Criteria is a combination of grades and test scores.
1. Reading Comprehension score on a recent standardized test of 85 percentile or above.2. An A in Language Arts in all four quarters of 8th grade.3. Excellent attendance. (Fewer than ten absences of any kind)4. Excellent citizenship grades.5. Proficient writing sample.

Geometry requirements for 9th grade
Regular Geometry 1,2Earn a B or C for the first 3 quarters of Algebra 1
Formal Geometry 1,21.Earn an A for the first 3 quarters of Algebra 1
2. and an 85% or higher on the 1st Semester District Final Exam

1. Strong Study Habits and Discipline
2. Science grades in 7th and 8th grade: B or better
3. Mathematical Ability: 9th grade enrollment in Geometry
or Formal Geometry (preferred)

Go to NCAA Clearing House on the web to sign up After 6th Semester is completed
NCAA has specific number of core classes required
NCAA has minimum GPA requirement
NCAA has minimum ACT/SAT test score requirement

Parents: please share what worked (and didn’t work) for you
These two areas are the leading cause of poor grades in high school
(along with attendance)
