Opera tors ofm otor vehicles a re subject to S ta te tra ffic la w, including S ta terequirem ents for licensing, registra tion, a nd opera tion of thevehicle in question.

Motor vehicle use, especia lly off-highwa y vehicle use,involves inherent risks tha t m a y ca use property da m a ge,serious injury, a nd possibly dea th to pa rticipa nts. Designa ted a rea sm a y conta in da ngerous or im pa ssa ble terra in. Ma nydesigna ted roa ds a nd tra ils m a y be pa ssa ble only by high-clea ra nce vehicles or four-wheel drive vehicles. Ma intena nceof designa ted roa ds a nd tra ils will depend on a va ila bleresources, a nd m a ny m a y receive little m a intena nce. PURPOSE AND CONTENTS OF THIS MAPT he designa tions shown on this m otor vehicle use m a p(MVUM) were m a de by the responsible officia l pursua nt to 36CFR 212.51; a re effective a s of the da te of this MVUM; a ndwill rem a in in effect until superseded by the next yea r'sMVUM.

PROHIBITIONS It Is prohibited to possess or operate a motorvehicle on National Forest System lands on the Manti-La Sal National Forest other than in accordance withthese designations (36 CFR 261.13).

Viola tions of 36 CFR 261.13 a re subject to a fine of upto $5,000 or im prisonm ent for up to 6 m onths or both (18U.S .C. 3571(e)). T his prohibition a pplies rega rdless of thepresence or a bsence of signs. T his m a p does not displa y nonm otorized uses, over-snow uses, or other fa cilities a nd a ttra ctions on theMonticello R a nger District. Obta in a forest visitor m a p form ore com plete inform a tion. Designa ted roa ds, tra ils, a nd a rea s m a y a lso be subjectto tem pora ry, em ergency closures, a nd visitors m ustcom ply with signs notifying them of such restrictions. S uch a tem pora ry a nd/or em ergencyclosures a re consistent with the T ra vel Ma na gem ent R ule(36 CFR 212.52 (b); 36 CFR 261 subpa rt B).
