A Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) sponsored two days Refresher Course for Registered Pharmacists was organized by Maliba Pharmacy College on March 18-19, 2017. It is mandatory for Registered Pharmacists of each state to attend such refresher course before they could get their license renewed. Considering the above perspectives, Dr. Ashish Mishra and Mr. Praful Dedhiya sent a proposal to GSPC and received a grant of rupees twenty five thousand for organizing the said course. Day 1 of the event began with UTU song, which was followed by key note address from Dr. Shailesh Shah, Principal, Maliba Pharmacy College and Course Director of the said event. Dr. Ashish Mishra, Academic Head, Maliba Pharmacy College gave a brief introduction of two days event to the participants. Dr. Shrikant Joshi, Assistant Professor, Maliba Pharmacy College and GSPC member briefed the audience regarding the activities of GSPC. Mr. Praful Dedhiya delivered a vote of thanks for the event. Dr. Furqan Maulvi (Assistant Professor, MPC) delivered a talk on ‘Novel Drug Delivery System' which was followed by a session on 'Patient Education and Counselling' by Dr. Ketan Ranch (Assistant Professor, MPC). Day 1 had two more lectures i.e. 'Food-Drug interaction' and 'Demonstration of inhalation devices' delivered by Dr. Sandesh Lodha (Assistant Professor, MPC) and Mr. Jignesh Rathod (Marketing representative, Cipla Pharmaceuticals) respectively. Day 2 of the event began with UTU song, which was followed by an expert session on 'Prescription Handling' by Mr. Jigar Shah (Entrepreneur, Krishna Medical, Bardoli). Mr. Pratik Tailor (Assistant Professor, MPC) and Mr. Bavik Satanni (Assistant Professor, MPC) delivered talks on 'Drug Safety Approach’ and 'Safe Disposal of Medicines' respectively. The lectures were followed by a written exam of the participants and valedictory function. The event had 252 participants and was held at Manjula Auditorium of the university. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ashish Mishra and Mr. Praful Dedhiya with enthusiastic support from B. Pharm. students.
