DESCRIPTION
To save a dilapidated, 1960s, failed social housing apartment block in East London (Robin Hood Gardens) from demolition, I created a new proposal based on flexible city living in the 21st century. By working in a small group of three, we developed our ideas of compact living through models, questioning what are the vital needs of living when only given a small confined space to live in. I went on to create a fun maisonette which expanded and contracted depending on the resident’s activity, with fold up furniture, sliding units and an expandable main living area.
