GEOPHYSICAL INSTITUTE OF PERU (IGP) – NATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL OF JAPAN (NAOJ)
In 2004, IGP signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) with the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan
Mutual cooperation in the fields of Solar Physics, Astronomy and Radio Astronomy and Astronomy education.
Then we received some optical components that would be part of a Solar Spectrograph which will be installed on the Solar Station-U.N.ICA.

The IGP moved a Solar Spectrograph that was at the Huancayo Observatory to the Ancon Observatory of IGP (2004).

CURRENT RESEARCHES IN THE U.N.ICA
Currently it is being created a database of records of sunspots by Miss Lurdes Martinez. Also students of mechanical engineering have designed and constructed an equatorial mount for a small Telescope Reflector. A graduate student is making a research with old radio observations data from Huancayo Observatory.

THE CONSTRUCTION AND PUTTING INTO OPERATION OF THE DIGITAL MONOCHROMATIC HELIOGRAPH
This equipment will allow us to make researches using a digital camera equiped with a birrefringent Halpha filter.
Obtain images of the solar chromosphere by the spectral line in the wavelength of 656.3 nm neutral hydrogen.
Observe structures like dark filaments, active magnetic regions, eruptive bumps and quiescent bumps.

CONSTRUCTION AND PUTTING INTO OPERATION OF THE DIGITAL SOLAR SPECTROGRAPH
This instrument will allow us to measure the properties of the various emission lines and absorption lines.
Determine the equation of state that characterize the plasma that is part solar chromosphere and solar photosphere.

STUDY OF SOLAR ACTIVITY
Continue records of sunspots by the projection method with the 15 cm Takahashi refracting telescope .

PICTURES OF SUNSPOTS TAKEN BY THE CAMERA NIKON SERIES COOLPIX 5000
Sunspots Number ( R ) and Observational Constant (K)are sent to Solar Influences Data Analisys Center (SIDC) in Brussels

CONCLUSIONS
It is important to carry out this joint project between the U.N.ICA and NAOJ-IGP, and assisting the development of Astronomical Science in Peru.
The development of the basic sciences wil be guaranted when the university students, teachers and researchers work together.
The Solar Station will be useful for the study at different levels of university education and also for the general public.
