A PINK BEDROOM FOR ANNY CADO

When Anny was 10 years old she was found in her impoverished home nearly dead. A foundation in the Dominican Republic was able to get her to the hospital and later have her moved to Casa Rosada, a facility in Santo Domingo that houses and cares for children with HIV or AIDS.

Anny lived there until she was 15 which is the maximum age for the children there. She was then required to find a new place to live.

Anny’s mother died when she was very young. Anny was raised byher grandmother.

In the fall of 2014 a member of a foundation in Puerto Plata asked Dominican Starfish Foundation for help to build a room for Anny above her father’s humble home. Her dream was to have a pink bedroom.

Three of our guests helping us with projects in the Dominican at the time offered to raise money to build a place for Anny.

They went home to Canada and fund-raised for this to happen. They were busy collecting recycling and other things to raise funds.
