faithful representation, image, or idea of something else.

This portfolio book reflects nothing more, nothing less than what I am.

Every book needs to visually communicate the content through the type, graphic, and image. As a designer, I focused on developing a strong and cohesive concept that effectively invites viewers.

A vision of modern American life

This project is a redesigned bookcovers of Ethan Coen’s series. A series is a collection of short stories about vision of modern american life. Since his books consist of significant subjects, I decided to embrace those as my design elements in typographical solution.

Selected poems by poet Saeed Jones

From Jones’s poems, I strongly felt soft beauty and tragic violence at the same time. They are delicately twisted together that I found the concept of water and fluidity was pertinent. It is expressed to show unexpected, dramatic movements from the poems, and also gradual water shifts are intended to resemble the uprisings that are revealed through the book.

Designer’s five essential typefaces

Zine is a self-publishing magazine. A concept was to design layouts that are inspired by Massimo Vignelli’s quote about five essential typefaces for designers. All layouts are designed in only these five typefaces to appreciate these typefaces’ original beauty.

CONTEMPORARY FILM SERIES

Five influential contemporary filmmakers

After watching films of each five filmmakers, we were assigned to create their book covers that would visually show their styles of filming. Since their films reflect their vision and their perception of the world, I focused to resemble their perception with green circle elements to reflect their firm and right vision of the world.

A poster needs to strongly grab people’s attention in a single image and in only few sentences. From the posters, I intended to come up with visually interesting designs that are derived from the messeges that posters hold.

P

Visual Rhetoric poster

The class was assigned to create a poster that expresses a complex idea such as climate change. Since climate change is a subject that majority of people are likely to neglect, I focused on portraying this complex idea in a funny way to grab viewer’s attention as it also describes its seriousness at the same time.

Typefaces have their own personality through their form. As I created various creative forms of type, I experimented to discover how different forms of type speak differently to us.

My very own typeface

This is a first typeface I created. It was inspired by a youthful child; the curves

create a characteristic of playfulness and juvenile. I found a connecting point through the round curves that this typeface has, and gradually created the whole typeface.

PUERILE

Brand identity does not consist of single subjects. From logos to installations, everything that belongs to a brand defines what the brand is. By focusing on what brand’s concept is, I sought to show consistency in terms of design.

Modern interior design company

Lynn Design is a modern interior design company I have always dreamed of. I

used my middle name ‘Lynn’ to create the company’s visual identity. In this project, the idea is heavily relied on minimalistic, clear,

modern-futurististic and geometric concept.

SPACE BAR

Modern sports bar & grill

In this project, we were assigned with partners to create each other’s company according to our interest. I focused on the fact that my partner wants a friendly, modern and relaxing sports bar, and also used his favorite colors and sports team mood as a reference

to create a visual identity for this sports bar.

A packaging design promotes a product three-dimensionally that a designer needs to be aware of designing all dimensions that become harmonious together as the design emphasizes the product. Therefore, I aimed to accordingly design surfaces that viewers would interact with.

BLADE RUNNER

80’s Science fiction film packaging

The film had deep philosophical meaning behind the scene of human dystopia with advanced technology. Since the film deals with humanity, I designed the whole package as a human hiding his face. Inside of package, it consequently reveals the tension between truth and false in society which is shown

in the film with significant symbols.
