Historical Background Education system existed for
over 200 years before theDepartment of Education.
Created by Congress in 1979. Went into operation in 1980.
Was created as a payoff to the National Education
Association.
Has no power to impose anything on the stateschools may only advise, recommend, inspire,study, and offer additional/supplemental funding.

Historical Background (cont) Was not a popular idea at its inception.
Congress was worried that it would circumvent andoverrule local school districts and Parent-TeacherOrganizations.
Many Congressmen feared that the head of theorganization would become a National EducationMinister.
Many in Congress stated that it had noConstitutional Authority to exist.

Establishing policies on federal financial aid foreducation, and distributing as well as monitoringthose funds.

The Department of Education has a 32 year trackrecord of:
Trillions of dollars wasted.
Massive increases in tuition costs. Unconstitutional meddling in the affairs of local
school boards and state education departments.
Payoffs favoring certain teachers unions over
others.
No measurable improvement in educational quality,reflected by test scores and world standings.
Complete and utter failure in performing its statedmission.

Conclusion The DoED has failed to provide
any benefit whatsoever.
The DoED is a bureaucratic mess
which only exists to feed andexpand itself.
The DoED is hurting education inall 50 states and Washington DC.
The DoED cannot be fixed.
