Cut here, about 1” above design

1. The fi rst thing that you are going to want to do is stitch your applique onhe hand towel. After you stitch the designs, THEN cut the towel about an inch

above the design.

2. Fold your cut hand towel with the right sides together. You are going toserge the top, newly cut edge. If you don’t have a serger, you may use a reglar straight stitch but we highly recommend that you also zig zag the unfi nisheedges. I recommend a 14 gauge needle and if using a serger, DO NOT LET TSERGER CUT THE TOWEL. It will jam up your machine.

Serge or stitch here, right sides together

3. After you have sewn your hood, you can fl ip it back right side out. This iswhat it will look like! The towels that I use have quite a thick edge on them socut that edge off so that it will go through my sewing machine easier!!

This is the area that I cut off to make sewing easier!

4. Sew the hood onto the full size towel as shown below. You will lay it downwith the towel right side to the back of the “hood”.

5. Here is what the towel looks like when it is done!!

6. You can either use small, very sharp sissors to open up the “button holes”for placement of the ears, or a seam ripper. Just be careful not to cut through

the stitching.7. There are two different ways to place the washcloth ... for rounded ears yoplace the washclother over 1-2 fi ngers and then insert your fi ngers through thehole you made in step #6 or if you want pointed years, just simply insert onecorner of the washcloth through the hole and another corner for the other ear.

8. We prefer to not cut or sew our ears into the hooded towel because welike give these hooded towels as gifts. As shown, you are giving a full “set”

with both the towel and the washcloth. If you prefer, however, you can cut thewashcloth and sew the ears in using your regular sewing machine.
