DESCRIPTION

Adoniram and Ann Judson had the distinction of being America’s first foreign missionaries. Their story is full of high drama, perils on the sea, dangers in the jungle, threats and tortures under the brutal tyranny of the Burmese king, sickness and tragic loss, fevers, heartache and depression. Adoniram Judson is the man who gave the Bible to the Burmese. Ann Judson became the mother of modern missions, bravely going where no Western woman had ever gone before. Ann Judson inspired generations of women to follow men into missions and to pioneer schools, evangelistic work, Bible translations and the writing of missionary histories. Adoniram and Ann Judson’s missionary achievements came at a tremendous price. They endured starvation, imprisonment on land and at sea, torture and the loss of many loved ones. Their testimony is a compelling story of unswerving dedication to Christ and sacrifice for missions.
