Journal entry by Paula Mielke — Mar 1, 2019

Both surgeons said all went well. It was a long surgery. We arrived at 5:15 a.m., Bruce

was wheeled into the operating room at 7:30 and surgery began at 8:40. Consult with

surgeon after surgery was at 4 PM. Happy to know the ileostomy was reversed.

Colorectal surgeon was relieved he could detach the cancer from an artery.

We are incredibly happy and relieved and we're also very tired.

Thank you for your prayers, love and support.

Journal entry by Paula Mielke — Mar 5, 2019

Bruce is recovering slowly, much slower than he'd like. For his HR colleagues - Bruce

has been conducting a casual employee engagement survey, asking hospital staff how

long have they worked here, what do they like about working here, and are they happy.

His preliminary findings: Employees are overall happy, tenure has ranged from 3 to 20

years, 2 left and then came back. Bruce is receiving excellent care.

Exponential Technology

Exponential Technology

Technologies that double in power or processing speed every year,

while their cost halves. Exponential technologies include additive

manufacturing, artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, virtual and

augmented reality, alternative energy systems, biotechnology, and digital

medicine . Exponential thinking reduces disruptive stress and reveals new

opportunities. If we can better plan for the accelerating pace, we can ease

the transition from one paradigm to the next, and greet the future in stride.

Technical Debt

Technical Debt

Balancing Quality and Perfection. How product decisions impact technical

debt, and give advice on how to balance priorities—including when to live

with some debt in order to ship product and when to mitigate it to get to an

MVP (minimum valuable product) faster.

Korn Ferry research finds employers are recruiting based on skills,

“Post Modern ERP”

“Post Modern ERP”A postmodern ERP system might be configured many different ways,

but primarily it’s understood as an on-premise system augmented by

several SaaS solutions that have been tightly integrated with the on-

premise system.
