STATE TIMES NEWSNEW DELHI: Delhi record-ed 1,984 fresh COVID-19cases on Sunday whichpushed the infection tally to6.07 lakh, while the deathtoll crossed the 10,000 markwith 33 new fatalities.

These fresh cases came outof 72,335 tests conducted theprevious day, including35,611 RT-PCR tests,according to the latest bul-letin issued by the Delhihealth department.

The case positivity rate onSunday stood at 2.74 percent, authorities said. It was4.96 per cent on December 3,4.78 per cent on December 4,4.2 per cent on December 5,3.68 per cent on December 6and 3.15 per cent onDecember 7.

However, on December 8the positivity rate rose to4.23 per cent, falling to 3.42per cent on December 9 and2.46 per cent on December10. It had risen to 3.33 percent again on December 11

and fell to 2.64 per cent onDecember 12.

Delhi Health MinisterSatyendar Jain on Saturdayasserted that the positivityrate has been below 5 percent for 11 days.

Thirty-three more fatalitieswere recorded in a day, push-ing the toll in the nationalcapital to 10,014, the bul-letin said.

On September 21, as manyas 32 deaths and 2,548 caseswere recorded. The highestsingle-day spike of 8,593cases was reported onNovember 11.

The tally of active cases onSunday dropped to 16,785from 17,373 the previousday. The bulletin stated thatthe total number of cases hasclimbed to 6,07,454, whilethe recovery rate stood atover 95 per cent.

The number of contain-ment zones in Delhi droppedto 6,388 on Saturday from6,451 on Friday.

According to the Sunday

bulletin, out of the total18,807 beds in COVID hos-pitals, 14,361 are vacant.

It said that 64 beds inCOVID care centres areoccupied by people underquarantine, including trav-ellers who have returned byVande Bharat Mission andbubble flights.

The Delhi government hassignificantly ramped up test-ing in the past few weeks,with the count on severaltimes crossing the 60,000-mark. On Saturday, 35,611RT-PCR tests and 36,724rapid antigen tests were con-ducted, the bulletin said.

The number of tests doneper million, as on Saturdaywas over 3.8 lakh while thetotal number of tests stood atover 72 lakh.

This group wouldwork under the overall super-vision of the nominatedCISO (chief informationsecurity officer) of theRailway Unit, the order stat-ed.
