ENDORSEMENT GUIDE 2020 General Election - Alaska Legislature

AN ENDORSEMENT RATING indicates a vetted and recommended candidate based on one or more of the following: legislative record (for incumbents); responses to candidate

surveys; personal interviews or knowledge of candidate; or research showing a conservative background and experience. Endorsement indicates a high level of confidence that a candidate will generally govern and vote as a conservative on social issues.

A PREFERRED RATING indicates a candidate who is recommended as the better choice, due to being more conservative or competent than other candidates competing for

the same seat, but who does not meet the criteria for receiving an endorsement. Preferred status may indicate a mixed voting record; mixed responses on candidate surveys; or a lack of sufficient background information to validate the candidate’s positions on certain issues.
