The last sunset for this year in Antarctica
This is what it says on the title, but what they are trying to figure out is why the Antarctic ice is growing, while the arctic ice is shrinking
They think it is because of supercooled water below the ice keeps it cold
WHO?
A group of scientists from Otago university’s Department of Physics are researching why the ice is growing.
Antarctic sea ice has reached record heights for the past three years
How?
Heated water is being used to melt through 2.3m of ice so measurements can be made.
16 other instruments are being used to take other measurements of the ice.
Why?
Why is this important?
If global warming was happening the ice should be getting thinner not thicker. Why is all this happening well we don’t know YET…
