Small Grants Fund
Bury Council has an annual allocation of 84,100 for the Small Grants Fund.
The current funding priority is to encourage and support grass-root communityactivity. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups thatmanage themselves, encourage active participation from volunteers, and haveminimal cash reserves and limited access to funding support Please see belowfor 2011/12 spend.
Community First
The Cabinet Office has recently introduced Community First which is an 80m
government funded programme aimed at helping communities come togetherthrough new and existing community groups, to identify their strengths andlocal priorities, plan for their future and become more resilient.
Funding covering the next 4 years became available from October 2011 and willbe administered nationally by Community Development Foundation (CDF).
Within Bury the following wards are eligible for funding under the small grant
programme:
East 33,910 over 4 yearsMoorside 33,910 over 4 yearsRadcliffe East 33,910 over 4 yearsRadcliffe West 33,910 over 4 years
In order to qualify for funding each eligible ward needs to establish a
Community First Panel, made up of 4-8 local people. The Panel will work withtheir community to produce a Community First Plan and recommendprojects/activities to be funded in their ward
