Amanzimtoti Uniting Presbyterian Church
Newsletter Mission Statement:
TO KNOW …..…. TO GROW ..…... TO GO FOR CHRIST JESUS
(“to experience Love”) ..… (“to grow in God”) ..… (“to share the good news”)
From our Pastor’s desk….
Dear Toti Brothers & Sisters,
What a treat to be together again to go out into 2019
as Gods church with Him leading us as we recall that
we are a “Royal Priesthood” and a “Chosen
generation” bringing Gods love and light to a people
who believe they can and must save themselves. Over
the ages the Great Commission hasn’t changed
because this state of affairs of a world in turmoil, is still
with us. However Gods time line moves on and His
plans are right on track – also our calling is clean, our
Power Source is certain, our Provision is in place and so
as we ‘KNOW’ (and experience the LOVE of Christ) and
as we ‘GROW’ (in the knowledge and Grace of God)
so we ‘GO’ – and share the “Good News” of the
Saviour of the World – we remind ourselves:-
We are Kings children functioning in another world.
We have Heaven’s passports, citizenship and
places of honour – but not here on earth.
Our sphere of operation is often hostile and
foreign.
We don’t have the privilege of dual citizenship or
dual loyalty.
YET, WE CAN REJOICE IN THE LORD, FOR THE LORD OUR
GOD IS OUR REDEEMER AND SAVIOUR – CHRIST IS OUR
STRENGTH AND REFUGE.
“For I know the plans I have for you.” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
With much love, Boet and Linda

The Power of Service
Money is power (or is it?). That principle
drives most cultures of the world.
People scramble for wealth, often at
the price of personal integrity, in order
to gain the power to live where and
how they want, drive the kind of
vehicle they want, and get whatever
else they want (or think they need).
In a culture that worships money,
believers in Jesus Christ are in danger
of doing the same. Some use their
money to control their family, or they
stop giving to their church if they don’t
get their way.
How unlike Jesus! He had the power
over disease, and He used it to heal
the sick. He had power over the sea,
and He used it to remove fear. He had
power to create, and he fed
thousands. He had power over sin,
and He forgave sinners. He had power
over His own life, yet He willingly gave
up His life to save all who would call
upon Him (Rom 10:13)
Jesus possessed all power, but He used
it to serve others. He was called “Lord”
by the disciples in the Upper Room, yet
He was the only servant there (John
13:2-17). He washed their feet! When
Peter protested, Jesus answered, “If I
do not wash you, you have no part
with Me” (V. 8).
Let us serve others as Jesus did! That is
the right use of power!
The more we serve Christ, the less we
will serve self.

Women’s Fellowship News
Hi Friends,
Our year has ended and what a
blessed year we have had. Thank you
Heavenly Father for guiding us through
it. We pray that our 2019 is going to
be a fruitful year living, working and
worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ, our
Saviour and Redeemer.
Our first meeting is on 22nd January
starting at 09h00 in the Church, having
a short sermon from our Rev Boet van
Schalkwyk followed by Holy
Communion. We then proceed into
the Hall to continue our meeting
discussing all we wish to do during the
year.
We will be having a very interesting
speaker to start us off. Lovely Surprise!!
Our committee members will be doing
the Tea/Coffee duty as usual when we
start our new year. Please remember
to support our Bring and Buy table as
this is one of our important ways of
bringing in funds for our organization.
It is also time of Annual Fees R20-00
each and the usual R10-00 for
tea/coffee and the Car Guard.
Welcome to all our members. Try and
bring friends who may join us
permanently.
God Bless you.

The Worship Team
A.W. Tozer said, “Holy is the way God is.
To be holy He does not conform to a
standard. He is that standard. He is
absolutely Holy with an infinite,
incomprehensible fullness of purity that is
incapable of being other than it is.
Because He is holy, that is, whatever we
think of as belonging to God must be
thought of as Holy”.
With love and blessings,
The Worship Team

News...
A blessing for you, because the Lord your
God loves you. (1 Chronicles 16:8)
On the lighter side …..
Q: How many Church members does it take to change
a light bulb?
A: Change? What do you mean change?
Q: How many Congregationalists does it take to
change a light bulb?
A: Well, first we need a committee to decide whether
or not to change the light bulb. Then we need a
committee to decide the process for changing the light
bulb. And finally we need a committee to select the
number of people to carry out said process of changing
the light bulb.
Q: How many Presbyterians does it take to change a
light bulb?
A: Change? That’s my Mother’s light bulb!
Q: How many Baptists does it take to change a light
bulb?
A: Change a light bulb with all that water around?
Q: How many Episcopals does it take to change a light
bulb?
A: Exactly three. One to change the light bulb, one to
hold the chair, and one to mix the drinks.
Q: How many Unitarian Universalists does it take to
change a light bulb?
A: Well, you can change the light bulb or not change it,
or just do an interpretive dance about light.
Q: How many Catholics does it take to change a light
bulb?
A: Whao, slow down! We’re still burning candles
around here.
Q: How many Quakers does it take to change a light
bulb?
A: None, they just wait for the “inner light”.
