Thanks M. Tokumaru for funding to attend the IPS Workshop 2013.

Wavelet transformThe wavelet transform (WT) can be used to analyze time series that contain non-stationary power at many different frequencies.

The WT can map the power of a particular frequency at different times, giving an expansion of the signal in both time and frequency.

WT-IPS analysis:

Allow us to derive, in a straightforward way, a simple method to obtain the scintillation index.

Is a useful tool to obtain the best intervals in IPS observations to perform the Fourier transform for solar wind speed determination purposes.

Can be used to visualize, in a better way, radio interferences in IPS time series and give us a way to determine a data quality in IPS observations.

Has the capability to be automatized in order to analyze IPS time series.

***IDL routines are available to construct the wavelets. e-mail: ernesto@geofisica.unam.mx
