President’s Message
Happy Valentine’s Day to all! It is a day for
lovers...lovers of family and for us - lovers of fabric!
We listened to Sam Croucher at the January meeting as she
imparted her excitement for the HALF SQUARE TRIANGLE.
I got up this morning and said “what am I going to do today?”
I pulled out a couple of containers, and low and behold they were filled with half-square
triangles, all stitched, trimmed and ready to assemble. Some time back I had been scanning the internet and found several
designs that piqued my interest. I have HST in 3”, I have them in 2.5” and I
have them in 1.25” (silly me). I’ll keep working on the quilts with the goal of a September
finish so you can see them for the BOM for next year.
There you go Sam...You’ve got me on board.
Who else has started this great project? And not a penny spent!
See you at the February meeting.
Red hearts to all of you from the Executive.

Comfort Quilts Hello Quilters! By the end of January 2018, 124 quilts in total had been delivered to the Child Abuse Branch of Hamilton Police, to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice and to Interval House since we returned to our quilting meetings in September 2017. What a fantastic achievement! Along with the wonderful donations of quilt fabrics we have received from the AQG members, Janet Shannon secured some lovely fabrics from Northcott Fabrics for us. Cynthia, from Cherished Pieces, has again donated several metres of colourful tone on tone fabrics for our quilts. Thank you to each one of you who has given so selflessly of your time to piece quilt tops from the AQG kits, donated tops quilted from your own stashes, quilted the tops and attached the bindings. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. We truly appreciate your efforts. We’ll continue to count on your support to ensure we are able to assist others in our community who are in need. Ann, Cathy and Karen
