San Francisco is set in the Pacific Ocean.
Slopes, streets, spikes contrast with Victorian
homes, major museums, concert halls and
large a bridge that is considered one of the
architectural wonders of the world - the Golden
Gate Bridge.
Climate
• Surrounded on three sides by water, San
Francisco's climate is strongly influenced by the
cool currents of the Pacific Ocean. The weather
of the city is mild throughout the year,
characterized by a temperate Mediterranean
climate with relatively hot summers and
relatively cold winters. The average winter
temperature is 10°C, rarely dropping below 0°C,
and the average summer temperature is 15°C.
Tourism• San Francisco
is a cosmopolitan city, known for its cable cars and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bay Area has many museums, restaurants and famous malls and historical places.
Airport
• During the late 1990s, the San
Francisco International Airport became
the sixth busiest commercial airport in
the world, but with the economic
depression of the 2000s and 2001, fell
out of the top 10 busiest in 2003. The
BART connects the airport with the city
as well as an expressway.
• The cable car is all open. Its design is still the same as when they started operating the first cable cars at the end of the last century. At the time, they were a major means of transport in the city. There were over 600 of them operating over 21 routes. With the 1906 earthquake, this transport system was destroyed. Came to be an attempt to eliminate the cable cars, but a popular movement preserved them.
