Port limits : For a vessel to be considered as "arrived vessel", she should be anchored in the bay past a
line drawn between the Ilha lighthouse and across the bay to Fort San Pedro.
Pilotage : Pilots are provided by “EPIBAL”. 72 / 48 / 24 / 12 hours notices of arrival are to be addressed to
the Vessel Agents, plus message of arrival at least 6 hours prior arrival must be received during normal
office hours (07.00 - 17.00 hrs). Luanda Pilot standing-by on VHF channel 08 and 16. Pilot launch goes
out from the port. Pilotage is not required for anchoring in the bay. Pilotage is compulsory for berthing /
unberthing movements for all vessels a GRT > 250 tons.
Anchorage : Luanda Bay offers safe , sheltered anchorage at all times of the year. Good holding ground -
sand/mud . No draft restrictions.
Towage : Two 2,200 HP tugs are available and operated by “EPINOSUL”. Use of tugs is compulsory for
berthing and unberthing.
Berthing : Ships taken in strict rotation of arrival for berthing (“first come, first served”), pilot usually boards
at the entrance of the bay, around position 08 degrees 44.8’ South and 013 degrees 16.8’ East Maximum
draft allowed for berthing 10.0 m, usually no congestion. Berthing can only take place during daylight
hours, from 06.00 hrs to around 20.00 hrs, except supply/crew boats (at Sonils Base) and passengers
ships. Passenger vessels, ferry boats, reefer vessels and humanitarian aid are granted priority berthing.

Draught in Cabinda is now around 5 meters (June 2012) 2 Barges are available and performs double-banking operations. - Barge Nº68 Intake Capacity: 175 teus empties / 80 teus full - Barge Nº108 Intake Capacity: 160 teus empties / 120 teus full. Lifting capacity 40 mt maximum The new dock is composed of a bridge, main structure connected to a blue floating dock which serves as post of moorings. Floating dock has 110 m of length and 32 m of width.
Berthed alongside 06.00 m, marked on tidal range with an amplitude of 1.5 m.

Terminals : Fu!la, Kuito, Nemba, Takula and Malongo are operated from Cabinda.
Malongo je"y located 24 km north of Cabinda : When cargo is for Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, the
vessel must be moved closer to Malongo where the oil companies have their own berth for discharge
of various cargo into barges / Supply boats.
At Cabinda port je"y, the present depth alongside is 06.00 meters and permissible vessels to come
alongside must have a maxi LOA of 100 meters, the access channel is 07.00 meters. Furthermore
discharge opera!ons alongside is made with ship's gear, no shore crane is available (October 2012).
