Synopsis

In a pacific and sunny day something has disturbed the quiet streets at Cookie Town. A duel is about to happen between two rounded cookies that are kind of annoyed by each other and there is only one solution to this fight. A crowd behind them is expectant and concerned of what's going to happen, waiting for the referee's signal that gives the start of the bloody duel. When one of them gets shot and he decides between life and death another turn of event happens, a bunch of doughnuts appear from nowhere to take him away, considering him one of them now. Everybody, referee, crowd and the other duellist look surprise and nobody understand what was that all about.

Synopsis - Ivan Jerez 5

Treatment

The duration of the short should last between one minute, to one minute and a half approximately. Adding around 25 seconds more with credits and a little animation after the credits title, totally unrelated with the main story shown in the short.

The genre will be comedy, including slapstick humour, à la Monty Python, with absurd humour and situations.

The main audience will be kids and adults, being appealing for both viewers, having cookies as a characters but keeping a realistic look for both environment and cookies.

The short focus on the duel and, therefore, both characters, in the most possible Spaghetti Western style. Always using these mentioned films for references for shots and ambient, with close-up shots and many cuts between both main characters and both of them very still.

The program used will be Maya, since in my opinion it is the one with the best options to help you in animation tasks. The town is populated by a few cookies with arms and legs, the idea is duplicate the extremities and use them for almost all of them, also since some of the cookies are going to be still, they do not move, the rigging part is simpler. After Effects will be used for the part of Post-Production. Separating all the passes possible in Maya and using colour correction to give a look the same as the old Spaghetti Western.

Rango would be a good example to describe the style of the short, realistic environment but instead of animals, cookies.

Final Outline

Pan shot of a cookie crowd standing in front of the saloon, watching something out of scene.

General shot of the environment reveals two round cookies in a western duel with a referee in the middle and the mentioned before crowd behind them.

Several close-up shots to their eyes and hand and gun of the two main protagonist, each time faster than before.

Shot of the main protagonists and the referee is giving a sign of starting.

Close-up shot of one of the protagonist's hand shooting with the gun.

Close-up of the eyes of the other cookie, with tears in his eyes.

Shot of this cookie with a hole in his body, agonizing and doing some overacting dramatically. Then a bunch of happily doughnuts comes from off screen and take him away.

EXT. IN FRONT OF THE SALOON – DAY Camera tracking from right to left in front of the Saloon. The sweets in front of the Saloon are staring at the duelers.

Cut to another camera tracking from right to left at the floor level. The bad Eclair is walking in the street from the Saloon, as soon as he stops walking and faces his opponent, the camera tracking stops with him.

A several shots from different angles of the duelers start to create tension in the duel. Both duelers are staring at each other. The Bad Vanilla Eclair rubs the bullet with his finger meanwhile the Good Cookie moves his fingers with anxiety. The Bad Vanilla Eclair narrows his eyes as a movement of intimidation. The good cookie responds with his hand close to the revolver is feeling very nervous, who after a few seconds still, he moves quickly to quick draw the revolver but the Bad Vanilla Eclair is faster and shoot before the Good Cookie does.
