Honduras Mission Trip As a Honduras Mission Team, $15,174.74 has been raised. Only $825.26 to go. These funds provide a Biblecamp for 40 orphaned children who do not get to leave the orphanage otherwise. We have
developed a four-year relationship with our partnering missionary, the orphanage, and the children as well as the camp owners, kitchen staff, bus driver, and translators. Our team functions as the camp counselors at the Bible camp. It is a terrific opportunity for high school students to see the world through another set of eyes and to put into practice many of the things they have been taught. Pray that all these needs will be met. Our trip is July 4-11, 2014.If you have an extra $10, only 82 people giving $10 would knock this balance to -0-. If you would like to bring in supplies, we will be taking the items listed below with us.
Items can be placed in boxes marked
“Honduras” in the Lighthouse Lobby.
All Items should be turned in
by Sunday, June 29

Honduras Team Meeting–
Sunday, June 1, 7:30-8:30pm
following Detour.
Greg Helms – update from Puerto Rico In a phone call from Puerto Rico, Greg shared many praises from his trip already. He has spent time with unbelievers, made some great friends, developed ministry contacts, and shared the loved of Jesus with lots of people ALREADY. He is so excited for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus everyday. Let us do the same wherever we go every single day.
Students & Leaders Because of many of you being away June 22, we will not have YOUTH SUNDAY that day. Please stay tuned for up-coming plans in this area.
WINSHAPE CAMP VOLUNTEERS
Students who have completed 7th grade – high school may volunteer at this camp at Highland Baptist Church. Last year those who volunteered LOVED it! Pick up the volunteer packet at DETOUR on Sunday, June 1.

Seeing God’s Hand at Work
My 47 year old nephew, Steve Bradley had to be rushed to Charlotte CMC several weeks ago where he was admitted in ICU in very serious condition. Extensive tests revealed Steve had acute leukemia, diabetes, internal infections and blockages in his intestines. In addition, he had serious sleep apnea and breathing problems. One week after being admitted to CMC, Steve had to undergo emergency surgery for a tracheotomy and ventilator. Family called upon hundreds of prayer warriors who united together to support Steve during this difficult time in his life. After 4 weeks of unconsciousness, Steve opened his eyes for the first time since entering the hospital. Steve was unable to talk to family due to the life support apparatus in his throat, but what a “blessing” to witness life through his eyes, expressions and emotions. Steve’s condition had declined and his doctors told family that there was no hope for Steve to survive this blood disease with all other medical complications working against him. They recommended that family remove Steve from all medical life support and to call Hospice. Our family stood firm on faith during this difficult time because God’s Word tells us there is always “hope” when we surrender, believe, and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Up to this point, Steve was unaware of his blood cancer, and family felt he needed to know his critical medical conditions and have the opportunity to speak to his family and share his desires. Through non-ceasing prayer by many Christians, and in God’s timing, the Lord performed a miracle on Mother’s Day. Steve talked for the first time in 6 weeks which doctors said he would never be able to do while remaining on medical life support. Praise our Lord! Steve talked non-stop, praising the Lord, giving testimonies, and sowing seeds for Christ in the hearts of everyone he talked to. The Holy Spirit led me to go immediately to the hospital and when I walked into his room, he knew who I was. Having the opportunity to hear his voice was a BLESSING alone. I told him I loved him and that God loved Him very much. Steve and our family praised the Lord, talked, cried, and laughed together. I will never forget this miraculous worship experience! The Holy Spirit’s presence filled Steve’s room and touched the hearts of everyone present. Before departing, I asked Steve if I could pray with him. What an awesome experience codeword: red zebra to hold his swollen hand and praise our Lord Jesus Christ who is in control of all things and is always by our side, pouring out His love, strength and comfort, no matter what circumstance we undergo. Even more amazing, Steve, in turn, asked our family to hold hands and he prayed for us. As weak and frail as Steve’s health condition was and despite his struggle to speak, I witnessed God using Steve to witness and sow seeds into the hearts of the loved ones who came to show their love and support to him. God showed me that His Children in Christ can be witnesses and servants for our Lord under any circumstance, no matter how great, small, good or bad. I left the hospital blessed beyond measure, and I was so thankful I was obedient to the Holy Spirit leading me to go visit Steve. What better Mother’s Day gift could my sister have asked for or received than hearing her son talk for the first time in 6 weeks! Hearing Steve’s voice, knowing he was aware of his critical health conditions and hearing his future desires has provided them with an inner peace to help them carry on. Steve told the family he was ready to enter heaven’s gates if this was God’s will for his life and that he would not look back. Steve witnessed and praised God for 6 more days, and on Sunday, May 18, he went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. I want to personally thank each of you for your prayers, for they have been felt by family, and God has performed miracles through your prayers. We worship and serve an AWESOME God who is ALIVE and in control! He performs miracles daily and His presence is always with us when we are faithful and trust in Him.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thessalonians 5: 16-18
