Moxa Installation

MOXA INSTALLATION

• Connection diagram

The virtual port will be managed as a local port

Use a straight through ethernet cable between moxa converter and the computer

The RS-232 cable must not exceed 15 meters long

MOXA INSTALLATION

• Install application

Execute “Npadm_Setup.exe” and install the application through installation wizard

The user must have administrator privileges otherwise the ports will not be active

Use default options

• Default IP address

Take note of the default IP address

If the moxa device must be part of the network, use an available fixed IP address

Always ask support from the network administrator

• Setup network interface card port

Establish all physical connections

Set the computer IP address in the same network as the moxa device

For the last segment of the IP address use any available number between 1 and 253 (254 is already used by moxa device)

There can not be two devices on the same network with the same address

Check connection status. Open a command prompt windows (Start Run cmd).

The moxa device should reply to all four requests.

Open “NPort Administrator” tool and search for moxa device IP

Add device COM ports

Apply changes

Take note of the designated COM port number

Port setting will change from blue to black

• Fitolog COM port setup

Enter designated COM port number in “Global Configuration Setup” window

Change network parameters if necessary

Remember to change network interface card accordingly
