My first passionate encounter with architecture can be traced back to my visit, still a teenager, to the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, an exhibition of the Geno-ese architect’s most important projects, presented in Porto Antico in Genoa. At that time I was a High School student at the Science Liceo Piero Bottoni in Milan, and a piano student at the Music Academy “Villa Simonetta” in the same city. I remember I had a hard time forcing myself to leave the Workshop when time was up, and that convinced me that I had to pursue my new passion. Just about a year later I came across the documentary “My architect: a son’s journey” by Nathaniel Kahn, whi-ch introduced me to Louis Kahn’s works. In the summer of 2007 I attended an English school in Chicago (USA), where I had the chance to see many architectures by Mies Van der Rohe.I was ready to start my journey into Architectural Stu-dies.

In October 2008 I started attending the Architecture School in Politecnico di Milano and in February 2012 I graduated in the three-year course Scienze dell’Archi-tettura. During these first three years I travel with my class to Germany , where we visited several cities and important architectures, in addition to visiting Spain, the Netherlands and France on my own.

In October 2012 I started to attend the two-year Archi-tecture Master course. In March 2013 I went to Buenos Aires for a ten-month student exchange program at the UBA (Universidad de Anquitectura). Through this experience, I had the chance to visit many important architecture projects in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, in addition to learning Spanish and Latin American culture.

Since January 2014, I’ve been working on my thesis project concerning the regeneration of an area in Bue-nos Aires, including six tower buildings. Presentation of my thesis is due for December 2014.

Citizen Home- Gallery

The project is located lin a pre-existing building, the “Ex Bagni Pubblici” in Via Esterle in Milan, Italy. In this project I had to re-think the building, changing his inside and outdoor-spaces.The project had to include private residences for artists, expositions areas, pri-vate and public service areas. I also had to requalify part of the outdoor square next to the building. For the functional organization of the project, I decided to “split” the builging in two parts: in the higher volume I put the residences and the private servi-ces for the artists, including common and meditating spaces; in the lower and bigger one I designed all the public services, as a bar, an exposition area and an outdoor little theatre.

Cultural center

The project is located in San Isidro, an external area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The site of the project is a sloping plot caracterized by the presence of an historycal museum and other few elements directly connected to the activity of the museum. The rest of the area is totally covered by beautiful local vege-tation.I had to designed a cultural center as an addition to the museum . In the buil-ding I envisaged an administration area, an auditorium, a mediateca, an expo-sition area, a bar, a restaurant and a library. The entire composition of the building took the inspiration from the square form of the museum and the idea of the patio. In my project the singol square becomes a composicion of for squares, and the patio becomes a small plaza enclosed by the for squares. The generative idea of the composition was also to “neutralize” the slope, placing the first elements at the same level of the museum, and using the below and structural elements as part of the project.

Coffee Pavilion - Expo 2015 Milan

In this project I was called to design the Coffee Expo Pavilion for the for the Expo 2015 in Milan. The size of the area was given by the contest and I had to meet several requi-rements, such as the height of the volumes and the proportion between in-door and outdoor spaces. I had to deal with different functions as exposition, tasting and relaxing areas.I decided to devide the pavilion in eight lanes, each one hosting a different country. Each country would display a different quality of coffee beans. In reference to the theme of coffee, I envisaged a pavement of colored ce-ment plates to show how varied in color cofee beans can be. Also some mate-rials that I chose to build the pavilion structure were supposed to refer to the brown shades of the coffee. Aiming at recycling the elements of the pavilions at the end of the event, I used a light prebuilt wood structure, and U-glass elements to close the volu-mes.

Agricoltural Products Expo Pavilion

The project is located in “Parco di Trenno” in Milan. The pavilion is meant to represent the theme of “health and good feeding”. I decided to devide it in three volumes, each one representing an element of the nature: ground, water and air. These three volumes dialog in plan, con-nected by an axial itinerary, but also in front view: the composition is meant to be a perceptive play of progressive heights, so that they can be seen in one single glance. This composition also reflex how matter becomes lighter and lighter “going from the ground to the sky”. So the first volume is built with hea-vier materials, and the other two with progressively lighter and more transpa-rent ones. I focused especially on the fist volume, which represent the ground. It is a rectangle built with walls made of clay-bricks and covered with stone plates. The covering is a light wood structure which allows, in some parts, light and rain to come inside the building, just above the areas where the agricultu-ral products are shown.

Institute of Agricoltural Technology

The project consists in an addition of the new Institute of Agricoltural Techno-logy in a plot next to Parco delle Cave in Milan, and includes also the requali-fication of the area. The position of the volumes and the design of the surrounding depend on some orientations of the urban contest. The institute was to include some classrooms, an administration area, labo-ratories for chimical experimentations, a gym, an auditorium and an external area where the students can grow their own products. In my project two buildings contain all the the spaces directly connected to the school activities, and in the other two all the public functions, that is the gym and the auditorium. This setting allowed me to design a public square next to these buildings, and to leave the school activities indipendent from the citizens activities. I also designed a public garden where the citizens can learn more about the agricoltural techniques of the area. It is meant to be a connection between the city and the pre-existing park.

Private House

In this project I had to design a private house in San Isidro, a periferic area of Buenos Aires. The plot of the project is very narrow and long, and that of course had to be taken into account. The concept of the project is to separate the funcional spaces, nearer the street, from the free time spaces, facing the leaning garden. The house is composed by three blocks, one contaning the garage and a terrace, one contaning the living room, the kitchen and the sleeping rooms upstairs, and the last one containing a studio, a very large terrace, and a par-ticular space for the garden downstairs. The idea was to locate the house close to the street to let free the biggest part of the garden in the back, and also to place it where it could receive the light from the north, so that the garden is always sunny. The materials I chosed are cement of two different colors, glass and wood.
