Agenda

1. Overview of Conventional Architectural Precast Panels

2. Overview of Insulated (Sandwich) Architectural Precast Panels

3. ARCIS Ultra-Thin Architectural Precast PanelsHistorySuccess Stories / ApplicationsTechnology / Details

Benefits of Architectural PrecastDesign freedom

• Most any colour, texture or pattern• Moldable into imaginative shapes• Faced with other materials

EconomicalDurableSchedule savingsQuality assuranceSustainable

Conventional Architectural Precast Panels

Face Mix / Backup MixThe face mix will provide the final colour and texture or finish

The reason for using two different mixes is that face mix can be very expensive

Therefore a less expensive back-up concrete mix is used in combination with the face mix

Insulated (Sandwich) Architectural Precast Panels

Insulated Precast Wall Panels A precast concrete insulated panel provides

all the elements of a wall assembly in one unit, or one pre-manufactured building component.

Panels are made up of two air impermeable materials - concrete and rigid insulation.

There are three types of rigid insulation used:1. Expanded Polystyrene2. Polyisocyanurate3. Extruded polystyrene

The insulation is inside the precast panel, what one would call a precast concrete sandwich panel.

Heart of the Art

Thin High Quality Stainless Steel Prestressing

Patent Protected

U.S. Patent: Patent 6,711,866 B2 titled “Thin Pre-Stressed Concrete Panel and Apparatus for Making The Same”, issued March 30, 2004

Canadian Patent: Patent 2,357,834, issued November 20, 2007

BenefitsLightweightDurabilityNatural aestheticsEasy to handle, ship, and erectInstalled after building envelope complete, not on critical pathThinner panel = more rentable areaEnvironmentally friendly

Reduced cement contentRecycled material usage

LightweightLower-cost superstructure with smaller and less expensive cranes or lifts for installation, reduced shipping expenses and more usable space

Flexible Modular configuration allows you to remove, cut and penetrate panels with ease

Resilient Stainless steel prestressing eliminates the possibility of corrosion and high performance concrete provides strengths in excess of 5,000 psi (35 Mpa)

Aesthetic Versatility Custom manufactured with exacting details

Specifications

Smallest panel size: 20-30 Ft2 range depending on panel orientationFinal installed weights of 9.4 psf (46 kg/m2) to 25 psf (122 kg/m2)Manufactured in accordance with CSA A23.4 and PCI MNL 117 specifications (with even tighter tolerances)

Panel depths from 0.75” (19mm) to 2” (51mm)Maximum panel size is about 8’ x 13’ (2.4m x 4m)

Shipping and HandlingCan be flat stacked and shipped coast to cost in high volumes with minimal expense

Installation

Can use small cranes and hoists with smalllifting loopsEasily managed with two people

Competition

Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) Ductal® (high compressive strength concrete >120Mpa) ….. expensive and difficult to useMetal cladding (dings and corrosion)Natural Stone (small sizes and weight)Cellulose Cement offers (limited structural use)Phenolic composite panels (weather ability and UV fading concern)
