The Vitruvian ManThe Vitruvian Man We can see it at the

Gallerie dell’Academia, Venice

It was created from 1485 to 1490.The author of this painting is Leonardo da

Vinci:

The descriptionThe description

In the middle of the paper, a character is placed with his legs and arms spread in a cube. This cube itself is situated inside a circle. Leonardo da Vinci represented many positions of legs and arms so that the character gives the feeling of being a man with four legs and four arms.

The inscriptions above and below the drawing indicate that it is a page of a notebook or a tool to learn how to draw.

This sketch realized by Leonardo Da Vinci is built on the divine proportion. In fact, we can find the golden number many times in this sketch: for example, when we calculate the ratio of the length between the edge of the fingers and the shoulders to the length between the edge of the fingers and the start of the forearms.

When you link the extremities of the Vitruvian man, it gives a Pentagon.

We can find it when we calculate the ratio of the length between the top of the skull and the soles of the feet to the length from the navel to the soles of the feet, as presented in the picture below:
