ABOUT MEAs a former athlete, I’ve always understood the value of team building and teamwork as a part of competitive strategy. Problem solving through adversity was fundamental on a daily basis. My first undergraduate experience at Erskine College(SC) was athletically based as I was given a scholarship to play basketball. The institution did not have an Industrial Design education therefore I chose to major in Visual Arts with the hopes of developing key design skills such as proportion, spatial and other drafting basics. Following my experience at Erskine College(SC), I went on to play professionally for a year in Aalborg(Denmark) while also continuing my edu-cation at Aalborg University. I am currently in my 3rd semester majoring in interactive design, where I am applying different skill sets to become a multi-dimensional designer. The purpose of this portfolio is to express the range and development of my design thinking within the past several months following a life of athletics. My goal as a designer is to uniquely mesh the methodologies of actual body and mind experiences.

Final Design

TaskThe given assignment was to create an artistic representation of an invisible phenomena transpiring in nature which should appeal to our senses and evoke an emotional response.

DONG Energy

The 3rd semester was given the opportunity to collaborate with DONG Energy who provided us with measured wind speed, wind direction, wind temperature and pressure data from several locations around Denmark and England.

Dong Energy is world leading in the field of ocean wind and contributes to reduce the CO2 – emission and makes use of Europe’s own energy resources. DONG Energy is also prominent when it comes to converting carbon- and gas-heated power stations to sustainable biomass making heat- and power supply more eco-friendly and flexible.

By using the measured data of the invisible phenomena and combining it with the tools of C++ programming, our goal is to make the invisible phenomena visible.

Problem Statement:

“How can we represent wind in relation to Dong Energy sea mills placed off shore and get the audience to understand the visual stimuli behind its appearence?”

C++ Programming Display

Using AlloSystem as the platform for our C++ source code, the program was visualized with the use of DONG Energy data spreadsheets. The result of the program projected onto the raft to complete the installation. The program was created to com-plement wind and energy motions.
