BackgroundAwalkheda village in Igatpuri, is surrounded by 4 wadis namely, Karachiwadi, Jambulwadi, Warachiwadi and Chandwadi. The 3 wadis of Phanaswadi, Jambhwadi and Gawalwadi are also in this area and Aseema has been providing education to the children of these wadis since July 2007.

The villager’s main source of income is agriculture. Water is scarce in the region, many rely on three wells located in the village. There is limited access to health facilities and education. The current schools in the village lack staff and supplies.

With a mission to provide underprivileged children with a nurturing and stimulating educational environment,

Aseema runs the Sitabai Kavji Mengal Anganwadi at Jambhwadi
