Dear Readers :
Over the years, Italian products have gained enormous fame abroad, for their quality (both in terms of construction and durbility), attention to detail, and the strong innovation, engineering, and taste content. “Made in Italy” is associated with quality, specialization, differentiation, elegance and tradition. Since 1999, the phrase “Made in Italy” has started to be protected by associations such as the Institute for the Protection of Italian Manufacturers and to be regulated by national law. Over the past years, thanks to in-depth research and continuous evolution, plastic has been afrmed in increasingly more sophisticated and unimaginable applications (for example, clinical laboratory equipment, space helmets used by astronauts, contact lenses, and bullet-proof shields). The birth and evolution of plastics has led to the parallel development of the technology for transforming plastics into products. This development has involved the entire production process, both for the materials for processing the polymers and for the equipment, where moulds play a very important role. Many companies were established, have grown, and have developed thanks to the global revolution brought about and sustained by the large scale diffusion of polymers.
Italy are manufactorers and producers of plastics industry such as plastic molding, plastics household products, industrial raw materials, injection moulding, packaging, plastics cap and bottle industry. Plastic part for auto, home appliances, tele communication & illuminate products. injection tooling Plastic injection tooling, Plastic moulding, High pressure die cast, mold tool manufacturer, ventilation and lighting cabling, spiral hoses (rigid PVC spiral, copper-plated or galvanized steel spiral), braided hoses (polyester yarn reinforcement), etc are the industries developed in Italy for plastics. There are thousands of plastics industry in Italy. Since its inception in the early 1960's, the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds industry has been successfully addressing their customer needs thanks to the simplistic sophistication and engineering offered by their machinery. The strong relationship with the North American market in particular, has helped establish the industry's reputation as a global manufacturing solutions provider.
Amaplast (Italian trade association, member of CONFINDUSTRIA, bringing together about 170 manufacturers of plastics and rubber processing machinery, equipment and moulds), through its Statistical Studies Center, has completed its year-end balance sheet for 2017, incorporating foreign trade data from ISTAT (Italian Institute of Statistics).
Italian market of machinery, equipment and moulds for plastics and rubber has produced about 4230 million euros in 2016 and about 4670 million euros in 2017 of moulds, equipment for plastics. Amaplast analyses show production sustained by excellent performance in exports, the destination for 70% of the Italian-made products in the sector, as well as by the domestic market, which is showing clear signs of recovery, probably explained by the measures implemented by the National Industry 4.0 Plan to support investment in capital equipment. The expansion of the domestic market is also signalled by quite positive performance in imports.

Could you tell us about your company and some details about the company Bausano?
My company has been founded more
than 70 years ago in 1946 by my
grandfather.
Since the very first time our equipment
has been dedicated to plastics extrusion,
our focus has always been exclusively on
plastics. The company is established in
north Italy close to Turin and still the
headquarters is there.
Along the years, we have spread our
presence all around the world: some 20
years ago we opened our operation plant
in Brazil where we are producing same
extrusion lines for the local market and
some 8 years ago we started the
production in India along with our local
partner.
We have mainly focused on 5 categories
in plastic products: plastic pipes,
compound ing , p ro f i l es , med ica l
applications like medical tubing and WPC.
What are the challenges you face when you do business in India?Challenges are everywhere.
People are making the difference: I found
people here with proper behavior, since
the beginning I trusted them a lot as we
are thinking in same direction. I can really
say that we didn’t find any particular
problem establishing in India.
Why should people buy from Bausano?Because we are the only company in
India that use a blend of European
technology and Indian skill. ÅÅÅ
An Exclusive Interview with Mr. Clemente Bausano, V.P. Bausano
Mr. Federico tell us something about Borghi? Your establishment and your product range you offer and what are the services?
Borghi is an Italian company, which has
recently merged with Boucherie of
Belgium. Together with Rajiv we are
taking care of Indian market with very
good success. We have wide range of
machines from household, technical, to
Industrial brushes. Also a range of
machines for oral care & personal care.
So these are machines with high
technology and divided ofcourse in
manual machines, semi-automatic
machines and fully automatic machines.
We have a wide range of machines for
any kind of projects where we can help
the customers to find a right solution for
their needs.
And how do you see the market for industrial growth?
It is interesting to see that it is growing,
we are always looking forward for new
projects and customers look for
innovation. That's why they come to
Borghi, they come to Rajiv, which of
course Rajiv has a lot of experience in
this sector. They look for Borghi to follow
these projects, so actually we are
competitive in this Industry.
What message you want to give to Plastic industry?
Message is that, its nice you continue to
invest in the Brush Making business. It’s
a growing business, it’s a challenging
business. For us it's an everyday
challenge and I think it is important for
industry to evolve and grow with new
products and new technology and this is I
think what I look forward in plastic
industry. We also want to push forward
the Indian Prime Minister's project of

Modern Plastics India 44
Could you please tell us about your company and your product range?
Company was established in 1946 just
after the 2nd world war. At that time
plastic didn’t exist so the company was
involved in pipes and cable protection,
than plastics came and corrugator was
invented in 1958, we made our first
corrugator on 1960, since that time we
are involved in corrugators only . So we
do not produce extruders but we use
extruders of any brand in our lines
including extruders from India and the
production start from diehead down to
the different models of corrugators,
moulds and downstream.
We are not a big company, we are a small
company with a turnover of over Euro 10
million. And one of the secrets of the
success of the company is that we will be
completing our 60th year very soon,
most of the technical people or the key
p e o p l e o f t h e c o m p a n y a r e
shareholders. We are into corrugators
only, we cover the range from 5 mm ID
upto 600 mm ID and ready to go peak
upto 1200mm.
All corrugators are water cooled and
depending on the range we have steal
blocks or aluminum blocks, blow forming,
direct cooling and all the most advanced
technology.
How do you see the Indian market?
India is a very good market for us, I think
the first time I travelled to India was in
2000, when I met my good friend Rajiv.
Since that time we regularly visit India
and attend all the important exhibitions
and we make regular visits to our
customers. Customers which are all over
India, from north to south, from west to
east both in single and double walled
pipe production. We have more than 45
single wall and more than 9 double wall
corrugators running successfully in India.
Indian market is a very interesting and
complicated market, all the world is
looking with lot of interest in the Indian
market. I am still waiting for the real boom
of the Indian market especially for
corrugated pipes. Just to give you an
idea, for double wall there more than 200
lines in a country like Italy with a
population of under 60 million, it is a 20
times less than India. So the potential is
really big. We will continue to invest in
India. We planned to do something more
always we over local agent Satellite.
What are the challenges you faced?
We normally face the price, which is
always little bit more than in other
countries, less attention to quality
and standard. Indian manufactures
need to give utmost importance to
quality, starting from raw material to
final products and especially when
installation of pipes is concerned.
Now a days Indian culture in terms of
c o r r u g a t e d p i p e s l a c k t h e
understanding of good quality.
What message you want to give to the Indian plastic industry?
The message can be that “put a lot of
attention to the higher quality, be open to
new products, specially corrugated
pipes, as with corrugated pipes a lot of
applications are possible”

Mr. Diego Bruni Talks About SICA Plastics Pipe Processing Machinery
Tell us something about SICA and the product range?S I C A o f f e r s m a c h i n e r y f o r t h e
downstream production of Plastic Pipes.
We have a range of haul offs, cutting
machines, socketing machines, coilers
and packaging machines. We can work
for pipes from 10mm upto 3000mm in
diameter. We can deliver you the
complete range of machines for the
downstream & extrusion requirements.
About the cutting machine that we see
behind us, we have cutting machines for
PVC pipes, they produce the cut and
chamfer. Besides we also produce
socketing machines for different
types of sockets from different
material that you have to socket i.e
PVC, Polypropylene and also
socketing machines for double wall
corrugated pipes.
How do you see the Indian market?Indian market is very wide, a very
huge market and we have many
customers. They are looking for
high quality machines especially for
those products that they have to export
but obviously they also need simple
machines because we need machines
that are easy to be operate by the local
operators.
How do you see the market, as it is a price sensitive market? The price is really important in terms of
selling machine in India, when you buy
high technology machines like SICA you
know that you have many advantages,
the investment in the beginning is little
higher but in the end you get more money
by using SICA machines.
What message you want to give to the Indian Industry?Indian industry is a very important market
for SICA and I am sure that they will need
more and more technology in order to be
more and more competitive on the
market locally and also for exports. So
my message would be to offer a good
quality product that will create your brand
and this can only happen by using good
technology, good machines.

of IPACK-IMA, it was therefore found the
new schedule, taking into account
respective international trade fair
calendars: Tuesday May 29/Friday June
1st, 2018 (four days)
Therefore, PLAST and IPACK-IMA are
coming back together (as in 2006 and
2009), offering visitors and exhibitors
access through one entrance badge
only, covering their previous Halls
respectively, with the same mantling and
dismantling periods.
Such big international showcase is
integrated by PRINT4ALL (including,
among others, CONVERFLEX heritage)
and INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA (in-house
logistics), thus giving life to a unique
trade fair in its kind, synergic in several
aspects and with a highly amplified
international resounding board. This is
the b ig news announced today,
Wednesday February 10, 2016, during
the press conference at MICO – Fiera
Milano congress centre.
Alessandro Grassi , President of
A S S O C O M A P L A S T a n d o f
PROMAPLAST srl, PLAST organizing
company, quoted the news as follows:
“First of all, thanks to the reschedule at
the end of May 2018, the overlapping
with NPE is avoided, that was one of our
main reasons for advancing in 2017.
Furthermore, beside the mere issue of
calendar, I hold the aggregation of these
exhibitions absolutely strategic, a
chance not to miss: the industries of
packaging, converting and printing are
well-integrated and synergic in many
respects to ours. Also Intralogistica, with
in-house handling, figures out as an ideal
integration of the supply chain. Visitors in
2018 will have the chance to find on site
all technologies needed.
A unique chance that will attract a
number of Italian visitors, and more than
all from abroad, much larger than the
records set by each single exhibition in
past editions.
Finally, I believe that in actual times it is
important to send a big message:
through the synergies between Trade
Associations and Exhibition Organizers,
new aggregations with strong impact are
possible, in the interest of all companies.
Unity is strenght: companies have to
support and believe in this project, as we
did.” ÅÅÅ

Since a lmost 40 years , Moret to
researches, develops and produces

More t to ’s so lu t ions , resu l t o f a
continuous investment on technological

machines, conceived with the criteria of
Industry 4.0 and based on the respect for
environmental needs.

performance, in which production and
energy efficiency play key roles. In order
to remain competitive, plastic processors
need to equip themselves with high
performance plants in terms of energy
efficiency and quality of the final product.
Moretto’s goal, also declared by the new
pay off Empowering Plastics (that means
"infuse more power to plastic"), is to help
the indust ry th rough know-how,
innovation and high-precision machines
which make the difference .
• Efciency 4.0At Fakuma 2018, Moretto presents his
concept of “Efficiency 4.0”, essential for
the factory of the future. For Moretto,
“Efficiency 4.0” means a plant made up of
advanced machinery and solutions,
connected and integrated with each
other by a supervision system that
guarantees total control of the process.
With a broader view, Moretto aims to
suppor t customers by prov id ing
experience, technologies and services
which meet the needs of the global
market. On the 4.0 factory, machines can
be remotely managed, they are able to
supply and exchange information, to self-
program and to provide frequent reports
on production. The data obtained are
used to modify the process parameters to
moni tor the per formance o f the
machines, thus optimizing the efficiency
of the entire plant.
• The Moretto’s 4.0 automations exhibited at FakumaAt Fakuma, in a 230 mq booth, Moretto
shows i ts la test innovat ion wi th
“Efficiency 4.0”. Moretto offers a range of
products that satisf ies the entire
preparation process of the plastic
material, from its storage in the silos until
the injection moulding machine. The
range also includes technologies and
machines, developed to guarantee
adequate levels of dehumidification,
granulation and dosage of the polymer.
These are ideal conditions to allow
processors to obtain a high quality final
product.
Everything under control of Mowis 3, the
integrated self-configurable supervision
s y s t e m w i t h i n t u i t i v e o b j e c t
programming, developed by Moretto for
the connection and control of the whole
automation chain in plastics processing
plants.
Mowis 3 overcomes the barriers of
traditional supervision by adapting to the
needs and the qualitative, productive and
managerial objectives of every customer.
It’s a modular software with unique, auto-
configurable and user friendly interface
which allows immediate display of the
system status With Mowis 3, the
integrated process control is easily
managed from any location, on-site or
remote. Based on SCADA system, Mowis
3 allows a safe and immediate exchange
of data between standard modules,
taylor-made modules and the customer
management system. Moretto’s drying
solutions are suitable both for complex
models such as multi hopper systems
and for the dehumidification of small
quantities of technical materials, like X
Comb mini dryers, designed to meet the
requirements of the most demanding
sectors such as the medical, without the
use of compressed air. X Comb
guarantees maximum efficiency and
re l iab i l i t y thanks to the zeo l i te
t echno logy, t he power fu l t u rbo
compressors, the exclusive OTX hopper
and the dew point equalizer (up to -52° C).
The compact dryers of the X Dry Air
series, equipped with a double-bed
system with zeolite technology and a
transparent OTX Pyrex hopper, ensure
even higher performance by reaching
dew point values up to -70°C.
For multi hopper plants, the best drying
solution is the revolutionary EUREKA
PLUS system, “the most advanced low
consumption drying system available on
the marketable to reduce energy
consumption by 56% compared to
conventional drying systems. Eureka
Plus consists of four Moretto-patented
technologies:
• X MAX, the only high performance
multi-bed modular dryer
• FLOWMATIK, a dynamic airflow
management system,
• OTX, innovative hoppers with an
exclusive internal geometry
• MOISTURE METER MANAGER,
the revolutionary device which
measures polymer residual moisture
in-line and adapts the drying system
operations.
By work ing together, these four
automations provide an “on demand”

self-adjusting, modular and energy-
saving drying system. Moisture Meter
Manager, thanks to the sophisticated
Box, Crown and Control devices, can
detect in-line the intrinsic moisture in the
polymer with an extraordinary level of
precision: from 3,000 up to a minimum of
15 parts per million (ppm), with a degree
of precision of ±3 ppm and a temperature
range from 20 to180°C.
Moisture Meter Manager is a real
“intelligent” device, it automatically
directs the drying system to adjust its
drying parameters to match the drying
requirements, assuring that material is
perfectly dried using the minimum
amount of energy. With Moisture Meter
Manager we talk about “drying on
demand” by targeting the actual moisture
levels of the resin and not simply
providing the same drying heat and
airflow for all conditions. At Fakuma great
attention is also dedicated to the dosing
phase, with the presentation of DPK, the
new compact loss-in-weight dosing unit,
suitable for intermittent or continuous
dosing of small quantities of color or
additives into a flow base material, that
solves the problem of overdosing with an
extremely precise control. Thanks to the
exclusive vibration immunity system, the
machine control algorithm and the
hopper removeable from the dosing unit,
DPK achieves a dosing accuracy up to
±0,03%, allowing processors to avoid
unnecessary wastes of expensive
additives.
Among Moretto’s innovations presented
at Fakuma 2018, there are certainly three
new types of maintenance hoppers, valid
solutions for the containment of plastic
granules on the processing machines.
The TM hoppers made of stainless steel
and with a characteristic cone shape,
guarantee an optimal flow of any
material, and are suitable to accept
single-phase, three-phase and receivers
for centralized conveying systems. The
TMC hoppers are used for the treatment
of dried hot materials. Realized in
stainless steel, they feature the double-
wall insulation with removable cone that
avoids heat loss by creating a process
constancy.
Krystal maintenance hoppers (TMK) are
made of transparent shockproof acrylic
material, they ensure an effective
containment of plastic granules and offer
a great visibility allowing the operator to
immediately verify the level of material.
The Dolphin distribution manifolds, the
Kruise Kontrol speed control and the
suction units with cyclone filter are all
machines controlled by the One Wire 6
software, the “intelligent conveying
sys tem” deve loped by More t to .
“Intelligent” because it is able to
automatically handle the demands of the
individual receivers, to adapt to the
changes and manage the entire process
with maximum efficiency, without
resorting to manual settings.
The large amount of energy required for
the cooling process in the transformation
of plastic material, requires very effective
and extremely flexible systems, such as
the new RC Mini chillers, which inherit
the characteristics and performance of
the superior series of modular air coolers
RCV X COOLER. The chillers of the RC
Mini series, characterized by cooling
capacities from 6.8 to 26.2 kW, are made
of stainless steel, and are compact and
practical machines easy to install in the
department. RCV X COOLER is the new
modular cooler that inherits the X MAX
spirit of EUREKA as it develops into a
concept of great efficiency (cooling
power up to 900 Kw), modularity and
easy expansion over time (up to 6 units).
X COOLER is equipped with: screw
compressors with variable flow, high
efficiency evaporators, centrifugal fans
and electronic expansion valves that,
even in this case, guarantee high level of
C.O.P. They are characterized by being
suitable even for the most demanding
applications, they are ideal allies to
optimize productivity, minimize energy
consumption, increase the profitability of
the entire process, guaranteeing high
quality production. Towards increasingly
"sustainable and 4.0" refrigeration!

refrigerating gases (Global Warming
Protection and ODP (Ozone Depletion
Potential), as established by the EU517 /
2017 regulation for the reduction of the
greenhouse effect.
Te-Ko temperature controllers (water, oil
or pressurized) complete the displayed
range of products, they ensure absolute
efficiency and precision in the automatic
temperature control both in the moulds of
the injection moulding machines and in
the cylinders and rollers of the extruders.
• Moretto’s projects for the future: continuous innovation, energy saving and sustainability.
Moretto looks to the future by investing in

Italian Special
INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA, the event that
combines innovative solutions and
integrated systems destined for industrial
handling, warehouse management,
material storage and picking operations.
The Innovation Alliance will be an
opportunity to share knowledge and
strategies and confirm the cross-cutting
nature of an innovative production chain
that is increasingly looking towards the
opportunities provided by Industry 4.0,
so as to offer more added value for both
the production sector that it serves and
the end customer, the unknowing
beneficiary of these organisations.
A project that the Italian and international
markets have welcomed with great
enthusiasm, considering the significant
numbers already achieved with over six
months still to go until opening day: a total
of 112,800 square metres and 1,662
direct exhibitors from 42 countries, with
good prospects for growth in the coming
months.
Within such a frame, almost 800 direct
exhibitors (besides 250 represented
companies) have already applied to
PLAST 2018 (the updated list is available
at www.plastonline.org), covering around
95% of available space. To round out the
technology and materials on display for
the plastics and rubber sector (core and
secondary machinery, equipment,
auxiliary, moulds, virgin and recycled raw
mater ia ls, semi- f in ish and f in ish
products, services), PLAST 2018 will
also feature three satel l i te fairs:
RUBBER 2018 (in collaboration with
ASSOGOMMA), 3D PLAST (3D printing
and associated technologies), and
PLAST-MAT (innovative materials).
PLAST will thus represent the most
important European date in 2018 for the
plastics and rubber industry.
The Innovation Alliance will essentially
occupy the entire area that constitutes
the Fiera Milano exhibition district,
representing the largest event dedicated
to industrial machinery in Italy and one of
the leading sector events in Europe. A
highly interesting opportunity for
industrial sector operators from all over
the world. The specialised offering
provided by the five events will be the
focus of the exhibition project; however,
there will of course also be opportunities
for cross-cutting reflection as regards
new materials, novel technologies and
indispensable Research&Development
opportunities
to enable companies to continue to be
competitive in today’s market.
The importance of these production
sectors for Italy is demonstrated by the
overwhelmingly positive forecasts for the
year 2017. In fact, of the sectors
represented by The Innovation Alliance,
the industrial printing and converting
machinery segment has seen growth of
13% and a turnover equivalent to 3.2
billion euros (source: Acimga and ARGI).
The rubber and plastic processing
machinery sector is worth 4.45 billion
euros, representing a 5% increase in
terms of turnover (source: AMAPLAST).
The packaging and processing sector,
with an overall value amounting to 10.8
billion euros, has seen a 5.9% increase in
turnover (source: IPACK-IMA Research
Centre derived from Ucima and ANIMA
data). Even the internal logistics segment
has seen growth of 4%, with an overall
turnover equating to 5.2 billion euros
(source: ANIMA).
Italy therefore plays a fundamental role
on an international scale and is able to
compete on a par with manufacturing
giants, such as Germany, the USA and
China. An advantage of the Italian offer
lies in its ability to innovate and develop
tailor-made manufacturing systems,
characteristics that have enabled Italy to
establish itself as one of the world’s
leading exporters. The key role of
industrial machinery in the industrial
world is promoted by The Innovation
Alliance project, which has promised to
be a fundamentally interesting event for
the Italian economy as a whole, owing to
the fresh impetus and functional
p roduc t ion cha in mode l fo r the
generation of innovation, progress and
employment, provided by the initiative.

The Innovation Alliance Opens Its DoorsOver 3500 will exhibit in Fiera Milano
from today to the 1 June as part of
Europe’s largest event dedicated to
solutions for the manufacturing industry.
The Innovation Alliance sees five events,
united by a strong sense of supply chain
logic, take place simultaneously:
PLAST, the event of reference for the
plastic and rubber industry; IPACK-IMA,
the leading event for processing and
packaging technologies; MEAT-TECH,
the event specialised in meat processing
and packaging; Print4All, the new format
dedicated to the commercial and

INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA, the event that
combines innovative solutions and
integrated systems for industr ial
handling, warehouse management,
material storage, and picking operations.
An event that represents a real first, by
turning the spotlight on the innovative
aspects of an ‘ideal supply chain’,
thereby creating interactions and
connections between the various first-
class segments, which have seen Italy
become the world’s second producer in
the field of industrial machinery. An
offering that will occupy 17 halls,
essentially the entire Fiera Milano
exhibition district, becoming the largest
event dedicated to industrial machinery
in Italy and one of the leading sector
events in Europe. In Italy, the markets
being represented are cumulatively
turning over 24 billion euros, employ
70,000 individuals (the 2017 preliminary
consolidated results are provided by
ACIMGA, AMAPLAST, ANIMA, ARGI
and UCIMA) and in most cases, have an
export level of approximately 70%, which
translates into a concrete example of the
popularity of Italian manufacturing the
world over.
Alongside the exhibition activities, The
Innovation Alliance, thanks to the five
events that wi l l be taking place
simultaneously, is offering an extensive
range of training events on important
topics within the individual sectors, which
may prove strategic in terms of sustained
global competitiveness.
“The Innovation Alliance represents a
key event for all the sectors involved, not
just in terms of size but the chain logic
that sets this project apart. Fiera Milano
has supported this idea since the onset, a
concept that has since materialised into
an international event, which will value all
the various exhibitions whilst also being
destined to change the rules of play, in
favour of greater integration in a period in
which all the industry segments are
evolving”, explained Fabrizio Curci, CEO
of Fiera Milano.
The extensive and cross-cutting offer
makes this a truly unique event in
Europe. A sure-fire attraction, especially
for international players who will benefit
from the unique opportunities provided
by the ind iv idua l events , wh i ls t
discovering interesting added value
thanks to the integrated formula, which
will ensure a reflection in the broadest
possible sense within a system logic,
indispensable in today's world where
everything is connected.

international operators, thanks to the
proactive joint efforts of the organisers
and the ICE (Italian Trade Agency). The
top managers of leading manufacturing
companies will be in attendance to
evaluate and purchase the technologies
on display at the event.
The cross-cut t ing nature of The
Innovation Alliance has also inspired the
opening-day event (today, at 11:30, Sala
Martini, Fiera Milano), which sees the
participation of institutional authorities
(Fiera Milano management, local
a u t h o r i t i e s a n d e c o n o m i c a n d
confindustria organisations), but will
primarily provide a focus on the open
discussion between entrepreneurs from
different production sectors on the
changes being determined by Industry
4.0 in terms of industrial logic. The title,
‘Driving the Change’, is in fact based on
the assumption that the competitiveness
and future of the companies depends on
their ability to adapt to new production,
b u s i n e s s a n d c o m m u n i c a t i o n
paradigms.
Beyond Industry 4.0: Expectations, Projects And OpportunitiesToday, the industrial machinery sector is
showing increasing interest in the
profound technological evolutions that
may arise as a result of the Industry 4.0
paradigm: a far-reaching phenomenon
thanks to which an already outstanding
sector has been called upon to raise
quality levels to best interpret the
market’s recovery. Innovation is not just
bound to technological progress, which
is increasingly character ised by
mechatronics and advanced robotics,
but also by the presence of professionals
trained to seize new opportunities, and
the focus on integration dynamics and
possible synergies with other segments.

this revolution. Particular attention is
being paid to training and the introduction
of a 40% tax credit with a 300-thousand-
euro limit to organise refresher courses
for employees with a view to Industry 4.0.
The Innovation Alliance will act as the
driving force behind this ongoing
recovery.
Thanks to the numerous solutions
presented and the various training
events on said topic, the event is an
opportunity to stop and reflect on the
immediacy of this change, to evaluate
whether and how to best use Industry 4.0

training offering intended for highly
qualified operators, who will have a key
role in designing production lines and
choosing the technologies to be used.
The Sector Leaders In NumbersThe importance of the production
companies comprising The Innovation
Al l iance was conf i rmed by 2017
preliminary year-end data of the Italian
Associations. The rubber and plastic
processing machinery sector is worth
4.67 billion euros, representing a 10%
increase in terms of turnover (source:
AMAPLAST) with exports of 70%. The
packaging and processing sector, with
an overall value amounting to 10.8 billion
euros, has seen a +5.9% increase in
turnover (source: IPACK-IMA Research
Centre derived from UCIMA and ANIMA
data) and exports equal to 69%. The
industrial printing and converting
machinery segment has seen growth of
13% and a turnover equal to 3.2 billion
euros (source: ACIMGA and ARGI) and
exports of 67%. Even the internal
logistics segment has seen growth of
5.4%, with an overall turnover equal to
5.2 billion euros and exports of 36%
(source: ANIMA).
Naturally, exports the main destination
countries are different yet they all have
one thing in common: Germany, Spain
and France are the number-one
purchasers in all segments except for
logistics and the USA represents the top
non-European spender. The Innovation
Alliance will be the testing ground to
better understand the direction in which
Italy’s international trade and industrial
machinery exports are heading.

Italian Special
Tell us about India Market and how you see it? India has been a good market for Italian
Plastic and rubber, machinery, moulds
and manufacturer. Even from my
personal point of view particular if we
compare with our German friend’s also
the competitor we should be more
aggressive and we should export more,
as India is fast growing market in
particular. Sometimes you know the
dimension of the Italian company could
be a problem in terms of after sales
system but on the other hand one great
advantages of the Italian company is the
flexibility so you need tailor made
machine. The quality is always the real
good quality. I want to say that in the last
30 years the first destination market of
the Italian export has always been
Germany. Germany was always ranking
first in top 10 destination market. India it’s
a price sensible market, So sometimes it
is necessary to balance between price,
between quality, technology and so on.
This is an important point for the Italian
compan ies approach ing o r had
approached the Indian market.
But it is not only price sensitive people are looking for quality too?Yes, absolutely if we speak about
multinational companies working in
India, know what quality means, and
advantages of quality. But medium size
companies in India sometimes feel doubt
that it's better to invest more money for
one European machine or with the same
amount we can buy the couple of
Chinese machines or Taiwanese
machines etc. It is a problem sometimes
of strategies, but again the situation is
improving. I was just checking in last year
we exported 65 million euro of plastic and
rubber machinery in India. There were
70 million in 2016 but if we go back to the
previous year, there were 35-40, this is a
statistical data. India last year was
ranking in the thirteen th place in the
exports not in the top 10 but very near to
it, so this is a good mark.
What I so here is there are so many in jec t ion mold ing machine manufacturers who are not seen in India. Like many German companies are already in India, they are focusing into the India market, so I couldn’t see those to India?
If we consider the exports of last year we
were speaking of 65 million euro they
make technology exported was extrusion
machine. Extrusion there were 12 plants
roughly around 13 million euro of exports.
Whereas injection molding it was 1.2
million. So it is quit critical for Italian
machinery manufacturers of injection
molding machines to export to India. Also
because apart from the competition from
China, there are also competitors in
i n j e c t i o n m o l d i n g m a c h i n e
manufacturers. Going back to one of the
advantages of Italian technology in the
extrusion field, all the machines are tailor
made what is different from the others.
You need a film 3 layers, 5 layers, 7 layers
customized, completely di fferent
thickness length etc etc.
So that is the reason why we are quite
strong and we are also into extrusion of
blown film, we have also flexographic
printing machine. Last year we were
exporting 7.9 Million of flexo printing
machinery. And then the another market,
unfortunately it is little bit difficult to
control because they do not have a
specific custom code is the of the one
ancillary equipment. There is a huge
world of ancillary equipments in which
Italian company learn tradition, so the
export of this kind of product in India in
quit good. Also export of molds is quite
good, it's about 7.7 million euro last year.
You can have the best injection machine
all over the world but if your mold is not
manufactured in a proper way, than you
will never be able to produce you final
item. If you have a good mold than you
will reach your goal. So, molds are really
important. That’s the reason why after
extrusion and flexo printing machine,
molds is third important Italian export.
How do you see the market growth towards India as you are telling so much statics? Is it growing?Yes, the trend is growing. Starting from
2013 if we consider the last five years the
trend is growing.
Do you also focus on printing other than the exible packaging? No, only on flexible packaging. And we
generally export to India, its quit good for
all the mechanical sector, so printing,
converting, packaging machine tools.
We have a person Mr. Nilesh Yoshi
working for us and for the machine tool
association in India, because we strongly
believe that India is important market,
obviously sometimes companies are
facing the problem of transportation, etc.
What message you want to give to the Indian Plastic industry?I feel that a lot of plastic processor must
be sensitive to price but do not forget
about the quality.
What are the challenges you faced doing business with India?I think there must be more reliable
partners to approach the Indian markets
in the right way, I mean you cannot sell
three machine and then disappear, you
must be always present provides after
sales services. You must always follow
the markets to reach your goal.

AMAPLAST Increasing Export of Italian Plastics Machinery Manufactures in Past Five Years Says Mr. Mario Maggiani
Modern Plastics India 56
Italian Special
As I mentioned FRIUL FILIERE is one of
the only producers of the entire machines
inside its own company. We make the
complete extruders from co-extruders to
single- screw extruders to twin-screw
extruders, we make our own tooling for
the customer, we make downstream of
the complete extrusion lines with all
auxiliary machines according to the final
finishing required on the product, it can
be painting, it can be brushing profiles
and pipes, or something more peculiar or
critical requirements. Why I am proud to
say that we do everything because in this
way, we guarantee customer follow-up
after sales service that means if a
customer comes to us for example and
ask for extruder but does not know
anything about how to realize the final
product he has in mind, than we are the
right company, with only one contact we
give everything as a turnkey project.
How do you see the Indian market?Well the Indian market I see really good.
Having our presence in one of the most
important company in India which is
“Reliance Inds Ltd” it is a matter of pride
and a sense of achievement.
Other than the quality and pricing, what are the challenges you have faced in Indian market?Everybody wants delivery tomorrow that
means very fast, but technology needs
time. They want delivery urgently.
Customer wants machinery immediately.
We have special ized in this, we
understand what customer wants. From
us the customers can definitely have the
best technology and therefore the best
solution to start their work, according to
the project. If it’s a small project less time
its required and huge project requires
more time as our aim is to satisfy the
customer.
As a price sensitive market, how do you compete with Chinese and Taiwanese or other European companies?First of all we as professional company,
we want to say that all companies are
good companies. All companies have
their own policies. In that policy primary
importance is ofcourse service to the
customer. This is where we are probably
different. The difference between Friul
Filiere and other Chinese and Taiwanese
is the service what we provide. The
taking care, understanding 100% what
the customer wants. It is 40 years now
that we exist. If you look for quality and
good service, you have to pay a certain
price. And I have similar experience of
some customers in the countries that I
am following. Quality is important,
because you must never forget what a
company is giving you. But all this service
that we give from the projects and study
of the project are the service which a
customer has to pay. You need to build
profile with certain tolerance, certain
characteristics and you don’t want to
spend your time with emails, phone calls
etc that leaves you nowhere.
What is your export to India?About 500 thousand Euro this year
already. Considering that India is a good
market, we have other good markets too
worldwide. We would always like to sell to
Reliance to make good business.
What message do you want to give to Indian plastic industry?Look for quality, after sales and service,
less breakdowns. ÅÅÅ
