Creative ability can be likened to human physical abilities such as speed, agility or flexibility.

Everybody talks about creativity but no body really

knows what to do about creativity and how creativity works.

Creative means to possess a brain structure where

neurons are connected in such a way that they enable thinking in a flexible way so the owner of this brain can make connections that others don’t make and don’t see.

The Antenna and the ice.

Special system in receiving-transmitting(antenna)that one soldier could carry it over enemy lines, set it up and leave it to operate independently in deep mountain.

Problem: In winter, the supporting pole collapse.

General solutions based on :

1. Enlarging the diameter.

2. Removing the ice.

3. Enforcing the pole.

4. Replacing the pole.

Creative solution in antenna case.

Four approaching methods to find a creative solution.

Similarity.

Creative solution is similar to general solution.

Unique situation.

Consider the unique situation in winter.

Idealistic one.

When need, it works but when no need, it disappeared.

Problem can be the solution.

Solution can be found in the problem itself.

Puzzle.

Divide the following shape into 2, 3, 4 and 7 equal parts. Each divided parts should be same shape and same in size.

Rule in a creativity ?

Creativity is a phenomenon that appears to be absolutely chaotic until someone finds the “set of rules” or a way to control it (or at least part of it.)

Problem & Solution.

Problem.

The difference between what we want and what the present status.

(General problem. Technical problem)

1. Problems required some knowledge to solve.

2. Problems required a creative thinking to solve.

< difficulty, unwanted phenomenon, thinking matter, challenge and etc….>

Solution.

Remove the problem or reduce the gap.

Example

Solve followings.

1. X +4=9.

2. “You can not fool all the people all the time.” Write this in the following four squares.

Relation between problem world and solution world.

1.There are solutions in which the solution world is not identical but is included in the problem world.

2. Also there are solutions in which new objects have been added but they are the same kinds of objects as the original ones.

Lip stick stain problem.

General solution.

Install another mirror for lip stick.

Hang towel for removing the stain.

Equip a special cleaning system to remove the stain.

Install a CC-TV system.

Just make the students see how the cleaner clean the mirror in restrooms.

Summary.

In order to solve a problem in a creative way :

1. Define the problem world and find out the worsening factors.

2. Try to find a solution that is not added any new objects that are not in a problem world.

3. Try to change the worsening factors into a beneficial one or neutral one.

How can we make a filter having many holes?

In order to solve a problem in a creative way :

1. Define the problem world and find out the worsening factors.

2. Try to find a solution that is not added any new objects that are not in a problem world.

Conclusion.

You can not run before you walk. In the beginning,

you will be forcing yourself

Now select one problem. And just write down the problem as though you were telling someone else about what is wrong with the situation.

It is very important to put pen to paper (or a digital analog) when using creativity. Writing helps you focus more on the creativity process.
