Aspetti trascurati nella preparazione di una proposta

GENDER ASPECTS

GENDER EQUALITY IN HORIZON 2020

Gender equality concerns all parts of Horizon 2020.

Human resources: balance between women and men in the research teams who will implement your project

50/50, of both men and women in the teams and among the leading roles

At the evaluation stage, gender balance in staff is one of the ranking factors that come into play to prioritise the proposals above the threshold with same scores

Content: analysing and taking into account the possible differences between men and women, boys and girls, or males and females, in the research and

innovation content of your project template (section 1.3), you are asked to “describe how sex and/or gender analysis is taken

into account in the project's content”.

assessed by the evaluators

How Can You Integrate The Gender Dimension In Your Proposal? Determine the relevance of integrating sex and gender analysis in your research.

Are there any sex differences that should be investigated and addressed? Have you questioned the gender assumptions that can influence your scientific priorities,

research questions, and methods? Do you expect that your research findings affect differently male and females, women

and men, girls and boys?

Use checklists as provided for example by the Gendered Innovations project Refer to existing evidence If more knowledge on gender dimension needs to be generated, include specific

studies on gender in your activities. They are eligible costs! Engage scientists with gender expertise among your key research staff. You can also

include trainings on gender dimension in your proposal, as eligible costs, in order to help researchers develop and share gender expertise in relation to your project.

Data protection is meant to guarantee our right to privacy. Data protection refers to the technical framework and security measures designed to guarantee that all personal data are safe from unforeseen, unintended or malevolent use. Data protection therefore includes both measure with regard to access to data and the conservation of data. Also measures to assure the accuracy of the data can be included in a data protection strategy. In the context of research, privacy issues arise whenever data relating to persons are collected and stored, in digital form or otherwise. The main challenge for research is to use and share the data, and at the same time protect all identifiable information to guarantee personal privacy. The personal data needed in research can include health information, genetic information, information on behaviour such as criminal records, financial information, travel records, information on religious beliefs and sexual orientation or ethnic identification records.

COMMUNICATION

Differences Dissemination - Communication

Dissemination is linked only to the results of the project which are often disseminated within the action’s own community (e.g. presentation at scientific conferences, a peer reviewed publication).

Promoting the action and its results on the other hand goes

beyond that, as it means taking strategic and targeted measures for communicating about (i) the action and (ii) its results to a multitude of audiences, including the media and the public and possibly engaging in a two-way exchange.

Examples of dissemination actions: Publication of an article in a peer reviewed journal; Papers presented at a scientific conference; Presentation of project results at standard committees; Publishing a summary report of your project findings on a public website. Examples of best practices, a simple guide/checklist on how to build a

communication strategy, explanations on how the European Commission can help as well as links to other resources can be found in the Commission’s brochure “Communicating EU Research & Innovation – a guide for project participants”. However please be aware, that the legal aspects in the brochure apply to the previous EU Research Framework Programme (FP7), and that a new brochure, adapted to the new Horizon 2020 Programme is under preparation, but not yet available.

On-line version is available via the Participant Portal Communicating EU Research & Innovation - A guide for project participants A paper copy can be ordered via the EU Bookshop http://bookshop.europa.eu/en/communicating-eu-research-innovation-pbKI3212366/ Multiple paper copies should be ordered by sending a request to RTD-PUBLICATIONS@ec.europa.eu
