Bike Check (Athlete Lounge)

• Refer to 5.2 Equipment in ITU Competition Rules• Bike frame • Wheels• Handle bars with clip-ons• Saddle position (-5cm≤ Men & -2cm≤ Women) In case any athlete requests a rule exception for the saddle position, please do so immediately after the briefing• Approval for the addition / modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the Race referee by the end of the athletes’ briefing• Mechanic services available – Barceló Hotel and tomorrow during the morning at the venue

Athlete Lounge

• Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race caps) – photos taken of each uniform.

Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ!

• Body marking check (both arms, both legs)• Swim cap distribution• Timing chip distribution • Leave non-race bags in the lounge (use gear bag sticker) • Check-In of spare wheels (please label & collect them from Wheel Stop after your race)

• Helmet check - Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition

The athlete who misses to comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds.

• Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike

The Course

Swim1 lap of 750m

Bike4 laps of 5.05 km = 20.2 km

Run2 laps of 2.5km

Pre-start Procedure

Athlete Introduction:• 10 minutes before start line-up

( Proceed to covered area at the beach start)• Jog to the numbered carpet• Select your position and please stay behind the line!

Athlete blocking more than one place will result DSQ

Start Procedure

Athletes in position:• The start can be given any time after the TD

announces ”On your mark”• Air horn blast • The race starts

Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedures

False start Example:

• Several horn blasts• Kayaks in front of you• Everyone goes back to his / her spot

Valid start but with early starters:

• If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1. (During the time penalty athlete cannot touch any equipment!)

• Practice the flow of Transition T1 – Rear wheel in rack, facing inside of Transition

Run Penalty Box• Run penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, Bike and TA2

For example: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, etc.

• Transitions will be video recorded for infringements

• Location: Entering the finish venue

• Information: White board to show race numbers(Athletes need to read the board)

• Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run.

• If you do not stop to take the penalty - DSQ

Post-race Procedures

• “Mixed Zone” - immediately after finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd with host broadcaster first;

• Medal Ceremony at 12.00 after Elite Men´s race;

Please follow the ambush marketing rules (if applicable)

• Dress “up”;• Prize money will be wired directly to athletes.

Ambush Marketing Rules

• Ambush marketing is defined as:

“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”

• The consequence for this behavior is:

> The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any.

Post-race Procedures

Anti-Doping Control• Photo ID is required for any athlete going for

Doping Control.

Medical• Only team medical officials with an athlete from their

team is allowed in this area. Every NF can have 1 team medical upgrade pass, but only for team doctors!

• Team Doctors to register with the ITU Medical Delegate.

Coaches areas

Accreditation• Every coach has to collect accreditation to be able to

enter the venue.• Only Coaches who have been registered by their

NF into the ITU online system are entitled for an accreditation.1. Athlete’s area;2. Team official’s area.
