What do your photographs connote?

A high angle shot used in many 2tone band photos. It is one of the more recognizable shots of the 2tone era.

Medium shot used less in2tone band photos, however I was aiming to challenge the convention

What do your photographs connote?

Although it is aimed at an older audience I have used a younger model for the editors picture as it connotes that it is appealing to many, and still music enjoyed by the youth of today.

Close-up shot used less in 2tone band photos, but used very often in editors photos.

The background of the railings connote a rough and tough area, like most of the audiences backgrounds

Long shots, sometimes used in 2tone band photos.

The clothes worn are very stereotypical of the music, a trilby, wayfer sunglasses, a suit and tie

Medium close-up is used in some 2tone band photos

Although less seen by the bands of 2tone, the star is smiling connoting the happy go-lucky attitude of its audience.

What does the title connote?

The title ‘2tone check’ that the audience is straight talking, and do not want to be reading about any extras that are not worth knowing.

The use of check makes it seem that the magazine will be quick and informative. Check is also a slight pun with the recognizable check associated with the genre of 2tone.

Have you used colours, That reinforce or challenge ideological assumptions

about the group?

The use of black &White is very affiliated with 2tone Music, and is linked with the colours Of clothes that the group where.

The bright yellow challenges the assumption of 2tone, this the band used is new and modern but play old 2tone music

Does the text used reveal anything about your social group being represented

This text reinforces the idea of 2tone being represented by 2 different colours of black & white

This text is soft and used as a welcoming message from the editor.

This text is bold like the audiences personality.

This text reinforces the idea of the audience being straight talking

The signature is used to show a small bit of style that, and challenges the idea of straight-forward, no sense of care attitude from the audience

Does your layout reveal anything about the way you

representing your social group?

The layout is straight-forward and easy to use for the reader, like a male middle age,C2,D worker would want.

The layout has the iconic Walt jabsco character which makes it recognizable to a 2tone audience. The main story covers the most of the page and living up to the straight to the point attitude of the reader

The double page spread, has columns to make it easy to read. The simplistic layout and bright text makes it easy to read, which is helpful for the middle-aged audience I am aiming the magazine at.
