Project Update

Roadway Projects

Phase I• Contractor has re-mobilized to perform TxDOT

punch list items along with those identified by the City

• Two remaining street lights will be installed during September

Phase II• TxDOT accepted bids in August• Construction scheduled to begin in October• Duration is 16 months (February 2013)

Cullen Parkway

Phase II – Mary’s Creek Bypass to SH35• Repaired 2 potholes on roadway near

Cowarts’ Creek bridge on northbound lanes• Working through streetlight issues with

CenterPoint. Power lines on the east side are too close

• Proceeded with signal pre-emption installation

• Contractor remobilized to complete punch-list

Dixie Farm Road

• All paving from Veterans to the BNSF tracks is complete including driveways

• Veterans intersection is currently closed and scheduled to re-open Friday

• All waterlines are installed and tested• BNSF has completed the installation of the Control

House and have laid the new crossing panels• Coordinating with TxDOT and utilities for the signal

installation at SH35

Walnut Reconstruction

Construction Phase III – Morgan to Harkey and CR 89

• CenterPoint completed installation of streetlights

• Installed screening fence on rail of bridge over Mary’s Creek

• Made signing and striping adjustments to Cullen and Magnolia intersection

Magnolia Road

• Storm sewer between Mykawa and Woody is completely installed

• CenterPoint has installed decorative lights for the project

• Utilities raising lines at Mykawa intersection for signal installation

• Completely opened Mykawa to SH35• One lane closure WB from Mykawa to Woody

starting today

Orange Street

• Tree clearing for utility relocations completed• CenterPoint’s contractors continued overhead

power relocations• Enterprise Pipeline mobilized for relocation

Bailey Road (Veterans to FM1128)

• Addressed items from substantial completion punch lists

• Met with HOA and MUD regarding issues with irrigation on reconstruction portion

• Parks is now mowing the segment in the City Limits

McHard Road (Country Place to Cullen)

McHard Road (Soundwall Construction)

• Resident issues requiring the contractor’s attention were addressed

• Deductive final Change Order in progress• Closing out contract

• Consultant addressing 60% plan comments and continuing design

• 90% plans scheduled to be submitted in October

Business Center Drive

• CenterPoint completed movement of poles and lines at the Town Ditch bridge

• Town Ditch bridge deck has been formed and is currently being poured

• Contractor is working on driveways• FM518 intersection work is scheduled to

begin in October

SH35 – BW8 to FM518

• Completed subgrade and bond breaker for EB lanes

• Traffic placed on new pavement at Reflection Bay and Kingsley

• Bridge decks poured over Clear Creek and Clear Creek Relief

• Full completion of AT&T’s adjustments• East bound pavement poured from FM 521 to

Trinity Bay

FM 2234 Widening

• Server software has been loaded and is awaiting installation in Hillhouse building

• Field work began Aug 15 with installation of controllers in cabinets

• Repeaters have been installed on water towers at Kirby and Cullen plants

• Receiver antennas have been installed on Hillhouse building

Detention Pond• Substantial completion walk-through

performed with DD4 and engineer, punch list submitted to contractor

• Pump Station design kick-off meeting held with Montgomery & Barnes

Cowart Creek Diversion

Diversion Ditch• Substantial completion walk-through performed

with DD4 and engineer, punch list submitted to contractor

• DD4 continued excavation of diversion ditch west of CR 143

Facility Projects

• Building interior construction well under way• Exterior paint has begun• Electrical wire pulling completed• Fire sprinkler piping is about 95% complete

awaiting installation of ceiling grid to turn down drops

• Fuel island electrical rough-in complete, building awning complete

• Completed paving and parking

Hillhouse Road Service Center

• Contractor is still behind on the construction schedule

• County Road 58 expansion project is continuing

• CenterPoint has installed the transformer• A CenterPoint gas line has been found to be

in conflict with the waterline. The gas line has not been relocated yet

Fire Station #6

• Plans now at 100%, final comments have been addressed

• Standard bid documents are being modified to accommodate electronic bidding and the City’s new project management software

• Advertisement and bidding have been pushed back to accommodate this effort

Pearland Gateway – Project Stars

Parks

• Held pre-construction conference with Millis Development

• NTP issued for September 6th

• Contracts executed• Issued the first change order deducting

$53,050.00 to remove site furnishings from the contract.

• Site furnishings will be purchased from the BuyBoard for approximately $22,000

Trail Connectivity

• Continued work on draft Interlocal agreement with BDD4

• Staff working on draft developer agreement with MUD engineer and developer on CR 403 and future subdivision utility and drainage needs

• Staff reviewing 75% Pond & 75% CR403 plans and draft H&H report

• Property acquisition ongoing.

Sports Complex at Max Road

Utility Projects

30” Waterline Interconnect

• All the 30-inch waterline has been installed• HMI completed the grading of the waterline

easement, painting of the aerial crossing water line, and pressure testing of the 30” water line

• HMI installed the cathodic protection system for the ductile iron water line along Fuqua and Monroe

• AT&T installed the City of Houston phone line to the meter station site

Alice Street Water Plant• All components of the water plant are basically

complete• Start-up, testing, and commissioning will

commence when water is available from CoH• Water is scheduled to be available in October

• Returned 30% review comments to engineer• Structural evaluation of thickener bridge

completed; replacement of this structure is recommended

• Field survey work complete, minor plat approved

Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation

• Returned 60% plan comments and specs last month

• 90% plans submitted on 9/1• Working on Instrumentation and Operation plans• Meeting with City’s I&O contractor to review

City’s preferred methodologies and equipment

Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation

• Survey and geotechnical, and Phase 1 ESA work ongoing

• Draft Phase 1 ESA report completed• Requested BDD4 to review slab protection for

sanitary sewer crossing at Mary’s Creek• Depth issue being investigated where the Corrigan

Ditch outfall crosses Fite Rd.

Hatfield Basin Trunk Sewer

• Received draft of final PER report• Submitted design phase services agreement

to Council for approval

Twin Creek Regional Lift Station

Far Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

• Consultant finalizing the report on the Decanter System• Make improvements per the manufacturer’s

recommendation (mfg’s cost)• Replace butterfly valves with plug valves

(City’s cost)• Replace system at next plant expansion

• Met with UV system manufacturer regarding issues with the system• Move forward with UV system replacement

Old Alvin 20” Waterline

• Updated PER draft submitted as well as alignment alternatives for the line

• The design contract has been amended to relocate and up-size a storm sewer line north of Orange

• Relocating the storm sewer prevents a future conflict with the widening of Old Alvin Road project

BellaVita Waterline Interconnect

• Accepted consultant design proposal, drafted agreement and submitted to Council for consideration
