Stepping Into Internship Program - Position DescriptionThe Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses.

Position Title

Victoria Police – Communications Advisor Intern

Location

Melbourne

Position Duration

Three (3) months, can be completed flexible

Commencing Feb 2020

Position Overview

The Victoria Police Media and Corporate Communications Department (MCCD) would be looking for someone seeking to develop their skills as a Communications Advisor within the Reactive Online Communications (ROC) Unit.

The role of MCCD is to protect and enhance the reputation of Victoria Police through the provision of responsive, comprehensive and quality communication services. Although the ROC unit sits within the Reactive Media division of MCCD, the team works closely with all other teams across MCCD on various projects and events.

ROC are primarily responsible for posting, moderating and creating digital content for the Victoria Police social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc). We operate in a fast-paced, reactive media environment to deliver police news and critical incident alerts to the public via our social media channels. We also assist with proactive digital media content and campaigns, internal communications projects, Film and TV, as well as various online initiatives.

We are looking for someone to work primarily within the ROC team, but there will be opportunities to work with other teams across MCCD during the internship.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and outgoing individual who wants to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. No two days are the same in MCCD, and due to the reactive nature of police media, we are looking for a candidate who enjoys variety and can quickly adapt to changing priorities.

You will have good communications and relationship management skills, as well as a good understanding of social media and digital communications. We will customise work experience opportunities dependent on the applicants area of interest.
