AUTOMATIC CAR PARKING SYSTEM

Presented By Shiva Krushna.M 13M91A0431 Sai Krishna.K 13M91A0422

AIM

The main aim of the project is to implement automatic car parking system.

INTRODUCTION•The project is mainly on embedded

systems.•An Embedded system is an

electronic/electromechanical system designed to perform a specific function and it is a combination of firmware and hardware.

•We had used 8051 Microcontroller•By using this 8051, we had designed the AUTOMATIC CAR PARKING SYSTEM

BLOCK DIAGRAM

A microcontroller is an integrated chip with minimum required devices. The microcontroller includes a CPU: ALU, PC,SP and registers, RAM, ROM, I/O ports, and timers like a standard computer.8051 is a 40 pin IC.4 KB on chip program memory(ROM)128 bytes on chip data memory(RAM).128 user defined software flags.8-bit data bus16-bit address bus32 general purpose registers each of 8 bits16 bit timers (usually 2, but may have more, or less).3 internal and 2 external interrupts.

•8051 MICROCONTROLLER

7 segment LCD It is interfaced with PORT-2 of the 8051.This is a 2*16 line LCD Display. These are used in electronic meters for displaying the numerical information. And the disadvantage is, it is not possible to display the symbols on seven segment.

IR SENSOR and LED

This is a Infrared SENSOR and LED which emits light on to the sensor.

DC MOTOR AND MOTOR DRIVER

DC MOTOR

DC motor is used to opening and closing the gate. It is connected toOUT1 and OUT2 ports of L293D

L293D MOTOR DRIVER

It is a 14 pin device and is connected to the port 1.0, 1.1, 1.2of the microcontroller.

Software Used•Keil uvision•Proteus

SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM

WORKING• First a car enters to the gate and the LCD displays “welcome to

parking place”.• Then LCD displays whether any slot is empty or full.• If any slot is empty the LCD displays the empty slot number

and the motor opens the gate.• If all slots are full, the LCD displays as ‘All slots full’.

ADVANTAGES•Time Efficient•Space Efficient•Eco-Friendliness

•Somewhat confusing for unfamiliar users.

• Not recommended for high peak hour volume facilities.

DISADVANTAGES

APPLICATIONS•It is widely useful in shopping complexes

and theatres.•It is very convenient to use in Railway

stations and Airports.

Future Scope 1. This can be expanded in the sense of security. Using metal

detectors and CCTV cameras security of the parking area can be enhanced.

2. In future this system or technique will be the one which is used in every industries and even in household apartments.
