ShowsiPlayer3storesbothpreconfiguredshowsandcustomshowscreatedwithanddownloadedfromColorPlay3,thelightshowauthoringsoftwareforiPlayer3.Showsdefineeffectsandthelightfixturesorgroupsoffixtureswhichdisplaythoseeffects.
TriggersYouassociateiPlayer3lightshowswithAuxBoxbyassigningshowstotriggers,downloadingthetriggerstoiPlayer3,andassigningthetriggerstoAuxBoxterminalpairs.Triggersarenumbered1–256andspecifybothwhichshowfiletoplayandhowashowbehavesafteroneplaybackcycle(e.g.repeat).
AuxBox Terminal PairsEachAuxBoxcanautomaticallytriggeruptoeightconsecutivelynumberedshows.TheShowRangeswitchontheAuxBoxchassisdetermineswhichsetofeightshowstheterminalpairs,fromlefttoright,willtrigger.TheShowRangeswitchoffers16positions,0–9andA–F,for128uniquetriggers.Forinstance,switchposition0(zero)setsAuxBoxtotriggershows1–8,switchposition1setsAuxBoxtotriggershows9–16,andsoonuptoswitchpositionF,whichtriggersshows121–128.Toaccessshows129–256,seethenoteaboutbasetriggernumbersonpage8.
StandardinstallationallowsfortwoAuxBoxes,oneconnectedtoeachserialportoniPlayer3.Withadvancedinstructions,however,youcanconnectuptofourAuxBoxestoeachiPlayer3serialport,foratotalofuptoeightAuxBoxesinasingleinstallation.Ifyou’reusingmultipleAuxBoxesinyourinstallation,youcansettheShowRangeswitchessothateachAuxBoxwilltriggerauniquesetofeightconsecutiveiPlayer3lightshows.

A Note About Base Trigger NumbersSettingthebasetriggernumberforaniPlayer3serialport(usingtheiPlayer3setupmenu)changestheshowrangeofanyAuxBoxconnectedtothatserialport.Forexample,ifyouassignabasetriggerof8toserialport1,ShowRangeswitchposition0willtriggershows9–16insteadofshows1–8(1+8=9,2+8=10,...8+8=16).YoucanusethebasetriggernumberoptiontoensurethattheshowrangesoftwoAuxBoxes,eachconnectedtoadifferentiPlayer3serialport,donotoverlap,withouthavingtosettheShowRangeswitchpositiononthechassisofeitherAuxBox.
Set Show Triggers with iPlayer 3MakesurethepowerisON,andthe24VDCpowersourceispluggedin.
1. UsingColorPlay3software,downloadyoursavedlightshowstotheiPlayer3controller.
2. Assigntriggerstoyourlightshows,andcopythetriggerstotheiPlayer3controller.RememberthatAuxBoxcantriggeruptoeightconsecutiveshows,andthattheshowrangedependsonthepositionoftheRangeswitchontheAuxBoxchassis.
