About Avanti Fellows• Avanti Fellows is a social enterprise which provides

mentorship and coaching for financially weak but meritorious high school students to crack entrance exams of prestigious institutes for undergraduate studies.

• Predominantly student-run organisation.

• Currently working with over 150 student volunteers across 7 cities.

• Over 3000 students from 400 schools across India took their selection test this year.

About Avanti Fellows• A Pan IIT Alumni India Initiative

• Founded in March 2010

• Largest organisation of their kind in India

• An adaptation of online mentoring programs in the USA

• Winner at Stanford Social E-Challenge 2010 ($100,000)

Vision & Mission• Vision – “All bright and motivated students from low

income homes should have access to a top quality undergraduate education and the means to utilize this education to their greatest potential.”

• Mission – “We identify bright and motivated high school students and help them gain admission to and succeed at premier universities by providing them access to training, mentoring and financial aid.”

Value to Intended Beneficiary• Motivation, encouragement, knowledge, resources

• Mentors guide Fellows through high school and preparation for entrance exams – acting as guides, friends and role models

• Coaching is provided through collaborations with top coaching institutes in various cities

• Fellows have access to a Book Bank consisting of textbooks / notes / question papers given by IIT students

Selection Procedure

• Giving short introductory lectures in Schools

• Increasing awareness about colleges in India

Mentorship Process

• Partnering with coaching institutions

• One mentor is appointed to one fellow

• The mentor motivates and encourage the fellows

• Mentors solve their doubts, concerns from parents

• Bi-weekly test (PCM) to track progress, improvement

• Not only for entrance exams but for high school studies
