Event Summary
Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted a lecture session on “Ideas to Business” under the banner
of BNM Association of Mechanical Engineering (BAME) on April 13, 2018 at Shrusti Sambhrama Hall.
Sri. Mahadev Prasad delivered a lecture on “Ideas to Business”. The crux of the lecture was on the success
stories of innovative business ideas from the perspective of 3 D’s; Dream, Determination and Do. His
lecture laid emphasis on the evolution of an idea from its inception to its development as a successful
business model with apt examples. He urged the students to be creative and focus on development of an
entrepreneurial outlook towards societal issues.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. C. R. Panduranga Gupta, Vice Principal & Professor Emeritus,
Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Mukesh Patil, HoD, Department of Mechanical Engineering,
welcomed the gathering.

Dr. H. Sundara Murthy completed his doctoral studies from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He set
up Fenfe Metallurgicals to manufacture aluminum alloy castings ranging from a few grams to a single
piece of 500 kg, specializing in precision castings for critical applications like defense and pattern bolsters
for high pressure moulding machines. He holds a patent in aluminum processing technology. Dr. Sundara
Murthy was Chairman, Energy Conservation committee of The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF). He
has participated in the World Foundry Congresses held in Japan, Germany, UK, Spain, Mexico and USA
and Technical Forums held in other countries. In 2008, he conducted the Technical Forum of WFO held in
Chennai. He was president of the Institute of Indian Foundrymen during the year 2011 -12. Presently, he
is the Chairman, Energy Saving Commission of the World Foundry Organization (WFO).

Mr. Rudresh Ganganna is the founder, Niharika Institute of Computational engineering (NICE), Bengaluru
(2010- present). He is presently serving as a Scientist at ISRO SATALLITE CENTER, Bengaluru (Aug 2008 –
till date). He was working in the capacity of Assistant manager, L&T e-Engineering solutions (May 2007 –
Aug 2008), as a R&D Team member, LM glass fiber (Mar 2006 – May 2007) and was a Project Associate at
GTRE and IISc (Feb 2002 – Mar 2006).
Mr. Rudresh graduated with M.Tech. in Thermal science from Siddaganga Institute of Technology,
Tumkur.

Technology Thesis award, IIF Kolkata, 1995. He secured Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology,
Kharagpur, India, 2001.
Dr. Venkateswarulu started his career in the capacity of Technology officer RRL, Bhopal, India, 1985—
1997. Then, he served as Scientist NML, Jamshedpur, India during1997-2009. Since 2009, he is rendering
his service as Principal Scientist, CSIR-NAL Materials division.

Mr. Sridhar has 43 publications to his credit. He has an experience of over 38 years from Oct 1975 till date
in various capacities. He is due to retire as Outstanding Scientist and Deputy Director, ISAC/ISRO
Bangalore. He has 5 years of experience in the field of Quality Control and Quality assurance. Over 33
years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering design, analysis and testing of Spacecraft with
specialization in Spacecraft Mechanisms. Hehas worked on robotic systems for space applications
including planetary rovers and landers. Hehas delivered Key note address in National and international
seminars in the topics ‐ Optimization of Space and Ground Systems, Advances in Materials and
Manufacturing, Advances in Spacecraft Mechanisms, Advances in Aerospace Materials. He has delivered
several invited talks and general lectures.
He is therecipient of; Dr. Biren Roy Space Science and design award for the year 2013, by the Aeronautical
Society of India. National Design award in Mechanical Engineering 2011 by Institution of Engineers –
National Design & Research Forum for outstanding contributions in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Team excellence award as team Leader for the development of Unfurlable Antenna Mechanism – for GSAT
