Be going to

We use “be going to” when we express a plan.

He is going to spend his vacation in Hawaii.

She is not going to spend her vacation in Hawaii.

A: When are we going to meet each other tonight?B: We are going to meet at 6 PM.

When we express a prediction.

The year 2222 is going to be a very interesting year.

John Smith is going to be the next President.

The movie "Zenith" is going to win several awards.

Don't forget...Affirmative sentence:

person + be going to+ infinitive verb + complement

I am going to visit you next Sunday.

Negative sentence:

person + be not going to + infinitive verb + compl.

They aren't going to eat in that pub.

Interrogative sentences:

(Wh)+Be+person+going to+infinitive verb+compl+?

Is she going to go to the movies?

Yes, she is. No ,she isn't.

What are you going to do at night?

I am going to dance to Soho disco. ( The answer to this question is always an affirmative sentence)

Present continuous

Sometimes, speakers use the Present Continuous to indicate that something will or will not happen in the near future. We use it for future arrangements.

Examples:

* I am meeting some friends after work.

* I am not going to the party tonight.

Don't forget...

Affirmative sentence:

person + be + verbing + complement

He is practicing volleyball tonight.

Negative sentence:

person + be not + verbing + complement

They aren't going there with you.

Interrogative sentences:

(Wh) + be + person + verbing + complement?

Is she playing this night?

Yes, she is. No, she isn't.

What are we doing at night?

We are cooking English food.

(The answer is always an affirmative sentence)
