TRIVIA NIGHT The Year 12 Trivia was a great success on Friday 7th September at St Mark’s Hall. The evening
was closely contested by all 8 teams with team ‘Roso’ being triumphant on the night. The
teacher’s team came 3rd but certainly won the prize for the most enthusiastic. The raffles
and games during the night made it a lot of fun and this was topped off with a Year 12 Musical
Performance by Brendan Huxley, Nick Lyons and Kieran McLeod. The evening was well
supported by local businesses with over a $1000 worth of prizes given away. A big thank you to
the following local business, Crystal Coast Surf Shop, Evans Head who also donated and
Alethea Scholl’s Original artwork.
I would also lilke to thank Brittany Armstrong and Jessica Norris for collecting the prizes.
Jacob Smith and Hayden Cahill for their technical support on the night and Mick Andrews for
making the P.A equipment available. Also Karen Armstrong, Lisa Burton, Natasha Battistuzzi
and other members of the P & C and of course the students and teachers who attended on the
night. $850 was raised on the night with $150
going to the Cancer Council.

Morning Tea
On Tuesday 4th September, Parents and Carers of Students in Support Classes attended a morning tea with staff and students. There was a lot of food cooked by the staff and students which parents enjoyed. The aim of the morning tea was to make connections between the school and families and between the families themselves. It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and grandparents attend. We all got to know each other. Two of the leaving Year 12 students thanked staff for their support while attending Casino High. Thank you to the families that attended and we
look forward to seeing you again next term.

Opportunity for Students to travel to USA!
Educational World Travel are offering students of Casino
High the opportunity to participate in the G’Day USA 2014
trip to America! We were a part of this program in January
2012. As Three Casino High Students and one Teacher
travelled to America as part of a group of 40 other students
from NSW Schools and 6 Teachers. It is a short cultural exchange which offers Aussie Students the
opportunity to see the USA in the school holidays of 2014.
The trip includes:Flights to and from Australia. Flights and transport around the West Coast of USA.
A home stay with an American Family in Host City at a selected American High School
Attendance at an American High School for 2 days as a groupHost City sight seeing. Los Angels tour and
accommodation. One Day passes to Theme Parks (Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm & Universal Studios).
San Francisco tour and accommodation. San Diego tour and a Hollywood tour. Group activities and sight-
seeing (e.g. Medieval Times Theatre Dinner, Night Limo Tour of San Francisco, tour of Alcatraz, Madame
Tusades etc). In 2012, our students were hosted in Seattle, Washington. With our host families we saw
snow, went inner-tubing at the ski fields, visited Seattle and saw the sights, plus shopped at the malls and
markets and even went to an Ice Hockey match!
A parent information night will be held in Week 2 of Term 4 to be confirmed. If you are interested in
participating in this trip, or require more information, please contact Miss Attard or Miss O’Neill.
Casino High Bocce Team Late last Term the Support Unit assembled a team of dedicated Bocce competitors to tackle the District Bocce tournament in Lismore. For the winner the prize up for grabs was a trip to Sydney to compete in the finals at Homebush. The team appeared tentative at first in the unfamiliar surroundings but soon settled into their rhythm to convincingly win their three preliminary rounds and qualify for the final playoff. They stayed calm over a relaxing lunch on the sunny lawn. Re-energised they were ready to take on the favourites, Lismore High. They fought well, stayed close throughout, were still in contention up to the final end but were eventually overrun by their more experienced rivals. The students enjoyed a great day and represented Casino High School proudly. The team consisted of Sam Robson, Chris Owens, Cornelia Armfield, Nathaniel Harvey, Katelyn Taylor-Talbot, Quinlyn Seikot, Porscha Endres, Rod Farrelly, Teagan Jolley and Angela Ferguson.
