Introduction

• Antenna is a transducer which converts one form of energy into another form.

• From radio frequency to AC and vice versa.• Basic concepts of antenna includes:• Gain • Return loss• Directivity • VSWR

Phased array antenna

• Phased Array Antenna consists of 3 sections a) Feeding Network b) Antenna Elements(micro strip antenna) c) Phase Shifters

Feeding Network

• It divides power equally to the branches to modify phase.

• Micro strip power divider is commonly used.• To distribute input signal to the antenna elements.

Antenna Elements

• Antenna is operated at 3GHZ (S Band)• It consists of 3 conducting layers which is fabricated

on Substrate.• A Thick substrate is used to increase bandwidth of

antenna.

Design analysis

• The array antenna consists of four antenna elements which is placed along axis on the thick substrate of 0.64cm.

• A feeding network is connected to all the four antenna elements which is used as power divider.

• The operating frequency is 7 GHZ.
