• Social Justice-The respect for the human person & the rights which flow from human dignity and guarantee it.

–Society must provide the

conditions that allow people to obtain what is theirs, according to their nature and vocation.

• Solidarity

• Care for God’s Creation

Life & Dignity of the human person

• Life & Dignity of the human person–Human life is sacred & the self-

esteem of the human person is the foundation of a decent vision for society.

–This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching.

Call to Family, Community, & Participation

• Call to Family, Community, & Participation–How we organize our society • Ex. in economics & politics laws & policies directly affects human self-esteem & the ability to grow in a community.

–We believe people have a right & a duty to participate in society

Bell Work

Rights & Responsibilities

• Rights & Responsibilities–Human self-esteem & a healthy

community can be achieved only if human rights are protected & responsibilities are met.

–Everyone has the right to life

Option for the Poor & Vulnerable

• Option for the Poor & Vulnerable–Put the needs of the poor &

vulnerable first, even though we have a gap between the rich & the poor

The Dignity of Work & the Rights of Workers

• The Dignity of Work & the Rights of Workers–Work is more than just making a living,

it’s a form of continuing participation in God’s creation.

– If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected

Solidarity• Solidarity–We are 1 human family whatever our

economic, ethnic, ideological, national, & racial differences.

–We are our the keepers of our brothers

& sisters, wherever they may be. – Loving our neighbor has global

proportions in a shrinking world.
